SteveT Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 A beautiful, nubile person of the female persuasion trapped in the Server Room with me and unable to get away???? Oh, is it time to get up already??? Well a man can dream can't he???

tomdawson Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 watching the site manager's cat follow him around the site is pretty cool. either that, or washing laptop screens whilst watching them install SP3 |-)
joe90bass Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Chasing sheep out of our schools grounds with the site manager - well it is Wales after all! or finding out yesterday that we have to have a survey done on our house so a PRC certificate can be issued and we can finally sell it. At a meer cost of £3,500
broc Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Lowlight of the summer.... having to have dental surgery on the first day of the school holidays, ending up talking like Marlon Brando in the Godfather....
teejay Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 The deployment of Windows 7 across all of our network actually working :-) and hopefully in another couple of weeks having a life away from this network upgrade.
MatthewL Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Summer holiday what is one of them, I can't wait for Christmas, that is our quiet time!!! (well it goes quieter haha)
Sirbendy Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Hmm. So far..? Good: Workstation refresh works well. Bad: Some wazzock rebooted one of our AD servers (or possibly both) during the final stage of Zen, either NM or our "overseer" in our parent academy, leading to a 50/50 split of domain join and workgroup membership. Tedious. Good: My junior just got the shock of his life (literally) when he shorted out a power lead. First shock ever, life lesson. Bad: He leaves us tomorrow. Sigh. Good: DWP just paid me the backdated DLA they stopped and didn't mention, plus the child tax credits came in at last (8 months old now!). Therefore, bills are sorted, car can have the new exhaust I've been meaning to get, and car #2 can have a secondhand set of discs/drums from a scrapyard at last and get some brakes! Even better: 2 weeks off starting tomorrow, lots of quality time wearing my daughter in the carrier/crawl-chasing across the floor/teaching her baby-sign, forgetting all about being adult and IT, and just having fun. Also got a sling-meet to attend with them, and a breastfeeding group picnic at a park by my mum, so lots of socialising. Even better again: Mother wants to take me, missus and tiddler to Shell Island/Barmouth as a "treat" tomorrow for a long weekend. Tiddlers first holiday! There are 4 people in this building. It's BLISS.
nicholab Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Installing the new 3750x stacked core with 2960s stacked in edge cabinets.
mattx Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Extracting and putting in Jars the first crop of honey from our Bees !! [ And because of doing this I am 2 days behind the rest of my schedule ] - but I don't care. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4088/4841192256_91871007ab.jpg
Gatt Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Highlight so far: getting all my deployments finished by week 1!! Lowlight: being shouted at by a teacher because she had come in (un-announced!) to do an "urgent report" only to find the network wasn't working and she hadn't been informed!!
dhicks Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Whats your highlight? Doing "df /dev/md0" on our new backup server gives: Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on /dev/md0 21486572544 5536 21486567008 1% /data -- David Hicks
Edu-IT Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 I can't say I've done anything exciting at work yet, it's still to come. I've been enjoying the time off and only nipping in for the odd hour here and there. Got some new machines to setup and that is about it.
Andrew_C Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Mine MIGHT be... Finishing the refit of the Language lab that I left for the physics dept this time last year. I've gone back to help as I remember how it was installed 1st time, and I designed the changes. I also like the chance to play with myriad wires! We are just a few bits short, and if they arrive tomorrow it will be finished, bar the software install which is due in the middle of next month. We are well on track!
kmount Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Extracting and putting in Jars the first crop of honey from our Bees !! john Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Hmmmm highlight - The fact the sun has shined and its nice and quiet downside - the fact that nearly 1 week in we are already 2 days behind schedule
Gatt Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Highlight - No staff or pupils Downside - they all return in September...
teejay Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 [quote=Sirbendy;548905 Also got a sling-meet to attend with them, and a breastfeeding group picnic at a park by my mum, so lots of socialising. Isn't this biologically impossible for your to participate in?
