It's here, it's here! The World Cup starts today! Flyer from work, first game 4pm, beers open, tele on, can't wait!

But, there has been other threads started by World Cup haters, and this is merely a thread to bring the lovers back together. So answer in the poll, are you looking forward to the World Cup, and post your story here (only if you love it!)

On a different note, do you recon there will be trouble from the England fans this year as they dont have a sterling reputation to start with do they (only a small few)? Or do you recon the police efforts of stopping people at the border will stop it all this time around?

Persoanally I cant understand why people have to cause trouble, why not just go and enjoy watching the game?

All depends on how close the Dutch, German, Italian and Spanish fans are.

It is a little known fact that there is more hooliganism in those countries than there is in England. our fans are tarred by the same brush, as was used during the 80's and early 90's.

The Dutch fans like to arrange fights by mobile phone.....that's proper fighting, not throwing mobiles at each other....and the others are just as bad.

The number of British hooligans in infinitesimal, these days, but Police still like to go in hard. Most England supporters are happy with singing and chanting.....the provocation nearly always comes from external forces.

(This in no way exhonerates the nasty b******s that go out there looking for trouble)

Apparently SA has been informed that our fans are very jubilant and NOT looking for trouble. It's just the minority that puts our great country to shame, as is always the case.

So who is to blame? The hooligans that get drunk and fight, or the media for not caring what picture they paint for this country?

I'd say both, the hooligans for being as they are and creating the bad rep that news compaines like to show as it brings in the ratings!
