gl3nnym Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Rebuilding many many RM machines. Having server downtime to clean the dust in our server room. Drawing up plans for a new ICT suite.

Iain.Faulkner Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 But whilst I'm away we're having air conditioning fitted in our Office :-)
localzuk Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Can't come in for half the week - we've got some asbestos related thing going on. After that, i'll be fixing a few network cables, getting ready for Softlink Oliver v4, virtualising our terminal servers and increasing their number to utilise the unused memory in the boxes, and some general maintenance such as reimaging 2 suites of machines etc... 2 days should be enough for that shouldn't it?
mbird Posted May 28, 2010 Author Posted May 28, 2010 But whilst I'm away we're having air conditioning fitted in our Office :-) You do realise, its sods law that for the rest of the year it will bitterly cold.
Pete10141748 Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Spending tomorrow at the London Expo, Sunday and Monday in Canterbury, in work on Wednesday to upgrade my PC to Windows 7. Other than that, just relaxing in the (hopefully) nice weather and getting some reading/gaming done
Soulfish Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Well I've got most of the week off and I'll be at the EG conference for part of it. Planning on tidying up the office on Friday (only day I'm in) as we've got a 3rd person starting and nowhere for them to go at the moment!
LosOjos Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) Off up to Manchester tonight to visit family, then going trekking & camping over the forest of Bowland tomorrow & Sunday, back down to Wolverhampton Monday to see Joe Bonamassa in Birmingham Monday night, by Tuesday Red Dead Redemption should have been delivered so I'll spend the rest of the time playing that in between getting my bike fixed ready to start cycling in to work... Busy busy busy! But all in good ways Edited May 28, 2010 by LosOjos
Sylv3r Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I'll be atternding a small conference in Preston on Wednesday. The rest of the week will be spent either cracking on through some of the nigglign jobs on the helpdesk that could have waiting for these holidays or working on my CSBM (Certificate of School Business Management) project.
Gatt Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Monday - probably getting plastered Tuesday - Rekitting a room and sorting backup tapes out Wednesday - small matter of a conference in Preston with Sylv3r Thursday - Configuring PaperCut with the Finance Officer, ensure all PCs have correct updates Friday - sit down with feet up and a brew.. (yeah right!)
michaelf Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 A relatively quiet week here, I plan to: - Finishing the replacement of our locally installed instances of McAfee AV with a nicely managed Sophos system (mainly the laptops left, groan) - Taking FULL advantage of having the sites to ourselves to crack as many helpdesk tasks as humanly possible - Supervising the sparks installing a new power feed to our axillary comms room
gaz350 Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Im kinda hoping our Multi Touch "UTouch" ALL in 1 Demo unit arrives so we can have a play. The original fell over in the lorry braking the screen! I Was also hoping to have more of an idea of what was happening over the summer holidays by now, but there seems to be a small hold up with our IT Contract for the new campus. anyone fancy planning for a xmas move of a school?
DAZZD88 Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Well yesterday was a hangover day after Sunday night. Today I'm mostly wondering what it is I'm supposed to be doing and for the life of me I just can't remember. Looks like for the rest of the week I'll still be trying to remember what I'm supposed to be doing. This will also be mixed with copious amounts of reading my books, watching DVDs etc...
Cools Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 building scripts to auto compress AVI,Mpeg and (flip cam) NOD files, Compress wav's to MP3 and and resize all JPG over 2mb down by 50% with 15% compression Yes that's right freeing up server space.
featured_spectre Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 cancelling all direct debits (apart from mobile phone), cancelling tickets to america and getting a refund, packing my stuff up and moving back to my mums for a while
buzzard Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Server Installs, destroying old HDD, conference, general tidy up of helpdesk and store
Jamman960 Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 (edited) Had wanted to take this week off but have to stick around and look after contractors, we've got a gig laser link going in this week - my biggest project so far is finally happening and I can get rid of the VPN link that tends to go down on any day with a Y in it.... Around that I'm hoping to tidy the office, sort out our switches and run a network link into our catering office. Other than that I'm hoping for an easy week. On top of that our site manager has said I'm getting a new circuit put in... the servers and everything else in my office is currently running off a spur which is hanging off a circuit that does most of this floor Edited June 1, 2010 by Jamman960
elsiegee40 Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Shut down the server first thing this morning as we have electrical contractors in for the week doing major work Walk round school unplugging everything for same reason as above Cleaning the projectors (Yuk! Yuk! YUK!) Back in on Friday to switch everything back on again whilst praying to the deity of the moment that it all comes back up as it should.
IanT Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Clearing out my switching gear as part of the building is being refurbed
BatchFile Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Climbing over the gate to get into work because the Site Manager never thought to ask me if I'd be in before chaining the gates shut:rolleyes: I have keys, and an alarm code, but no key to the padlock on the gate. and now wet patches on my trousers - from the water on the gates. Grrrrrr. Edit: just noticed that's my 500th post Yay
