mstarkie Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 You could have a go yourself. Combined team building with Caretaker maybe?
jam3s Posted April 22, 2010 Author Posted April 22, 2010 I think there is some stupid Health and safety thing that states you need insurance if your working over a Meter and a half otherwise I would do the projectors However we have done loads of smart-boards ourselves, which is really easy. I think we had a quote for £500 installation fee for a smart-board which is crazy for how easy it is!!
russdev Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 R & H based in Leicestershire but all over the uk etc. Good work and prices. Home If get in touch ask for Andy Ray and say Russell recommended them Russ
sjatkn Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I've used Multimedia Installations Ltd based in Leeds, but they do work over the whole country. His cabling and projector installs have always been excellent and good value for money. Contact Paul Dawson ([email protected]) Tel. 0870 325 8833 Fax. 0870 325 8877 Do tell him that Steve from Knutsford says hello.
MatthewL Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 We use Safe Control in Louth, Lincolnshire, very reliable and we have a good working relationship with the bloke that owns it, he even comes in and gets his hands dirty some times. They do work all over the country. Worth a shout.
AngryTechnician Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Could try IDN Supplies ([email protected]) Have to say I would urge people to be careful with IDN. They were astonishingly cheap when I first started using them, far cheaper than anyone else could offer, but their prices crept up over time without me checking the prices, until one day I realised they'd been much more expensive than the competition for some time. It was early in my career when I was caught by it and after kicking myself I've been much more careful checking prices since. I never confronted them about it - just stopped ordering - but looking back I strongly suspect they were lowballing the first half-dozen orders.

The problem Ive found is that you get what you pay for!!!!!!!! we have had a company called astec computing who did a lot of work for us however one cabinet nearly fell off the wall, had cat5e installed over 100m and smart-boards installed at angels. however when we started using them they were good but over time the work became worse.

The School here have used USL AV for installs before. Plus we use NPCS for Cabling. Very good and efficient guy that does the networking cabling.

I never confronted them about it - just stopped ordering - but looking back I strongly suspect they were lowballing the first half-dozen orders. I have spoken to Angry regarding his comments about IDN and he has told me that this was nothing to do with AV supplies or installation services but about consumables and dating back a few years. I do not want to make this an advertiing issue but would just like to point out that I did not feel it was a fair representation of IDN's services. I wold not advise any company to under price just to get orders as this does not allow any possibility to cover yourself for servicing or support issues. There is a point on hardware buying ie. larger companies buy at better prices due to increqased volumes etc but for services if the quote seems too cheap it probably is!
