Consider this - you've been here for quite a short time, and in that time, you've been given various warnings/had posts edited/been given a lot of negative rep. Does that not indicate to you that you are going about things in slightly the wrong way? Generally, if I am warned about something I've done, or find myself being given a ticking off by a large chunk of the community (ie. neg rep) then I'll think 'I may be wrong here...' and change the way I operate. Do you? No just because my opinion differs from yours it is wrong, it is different. Consider this - You are not always right. As for my rep you are looking at it from the wrong angle. From this angle I could not care less. I know full well that the reason it is red is because a couple of members who enjoy leaving me nice messages via negative rep.

It's red because your contributions are more aggressive and confrontational than they are constructive, informative and helpful. 2

As Domino said, it is under discussion at the moment and so please let things lie until decisions have been made 3

No need to go all 'bold' and shouty... I always thought messages could be left via PM? And rep was for indicating when you thought someone was doing a good thing, or if someone was behaving badly. You obviously know more about forums than me though. 1

I read the bit I quoted above and having just watched the new Star Trek movie on DVD I first read it as "no need to 'boldly go'" ... and thought we had strayed back into the Pedants' group again.

Haha, I learned the error of my ways when I used a split infinitive in front of my boss. Lets just say, I try hard to avoid making the same mistake again. (Although, this does depend on how much sleep I've had etc...)

I don't blame ringofflame for feeling miffed. I think that is completely understandable. The initial post in this thread is also completely appropriate and doesn't deserve the disregard it has got from some replies. 3

The occurence that ROF reported today has been dealt with. Ben

This place exists as a resource for thousands of like-minded individuals in similar roles. It has developed in to a community where we try and help each other - in some cases go out of our way to do so. The "ownership" of the site doesn't concern me (which is where this discussion usually goes!) - If Dos_Box ultimately decides to do something one way which I have a huge problem with then yes, it would influence my decision on whether or not to continue using it. The thing is, and I'm more than willing to be corrected by him, I would guess that Dos_Box doesn't want to make sweeping changes which have a negative impact on what EduGeek has evolved in to. To ensure that this doesn't happen, on largely non-critical issues, it makes sense to have the decency to ask or consult with the community which use (and in some cases support) the product which pays his salary... Call it what you will, but that would be more like a democracy than a dictatorship! 1
