Thats lovely, I love the old "box" shape BMW's.

Here's something else, earmarked as the worlds faster car, (Yes, faster than a Veyron)

9ff | EN | Products | Details

What a lovely looking speed machine.

It may make a higher top speed as it has very long gears, but It's claim of 0-100km in 2.9 seconds has been proven false. It would get burned off the lights by a normal M3 and it may even beat it to sixty.

That BM is sweet, just think in original spec it put out about 190bhp, thats gonna surprise some people! Agreed the stang behind looks nice too, not quite an Elanor tho is it ;)

I did claim fastest, which literally means top end. I may get trumped at 0-60 by an M3, but after that its all game over, still the worlds fastest car.

And the price tag is circa £1.5m

I appreciate that ahuxham, i just suppose for me how fast a car can go does not impress me, the fact that you will never get the chance to do 200+mph and at any road legal speeds you will get out gunned by a chav in a hot hatch seems like a Colossal waste of wonga.

The fact a veyron does 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and 100 in about 7 is far more impressive than a Porsche that can go 256mph to the veyrons 255mph (or what ever the actual figures are) but what ever pops your cork :)

Yes and chav's routinely drive around in M3's.

haha that made me laugh,

I thought M3's did 0-60 in about 4.5 which isnt exactly that quick and I cant see you getting gunned out by many chav's if you where driving that porsche to be honest unless the chav's are loaded down your way :D

They seem to go for more powerful cars round here! I have seen a turbo VR6 golf, an insane Evo thats noisier than a helicopter, oh and some idiot that has one of those little mini bikes that seem to go over 300mph :p

not sure where you got the chavs in M3's bit from? or are M3's now a hatch back? :troll:

and yes 4.5 -5 seconds is not quick but that porsche has slow acceleration as it is geared so long to produce a high top speed.

4.5 seconds is very quick in anyones books, is that the Porsche that was on Top Gear in the drag race episode a while back that got absolutely hammered by an Arial Atom?

Nope, The 9ff Porsche has yet to make an appearance on top gear. I want a Dubai Bugatti/9ff race off!

Yes, and only an idiot would assume that; a hot hatch is quite capable of hitting a 4 second 0-60, and the gearing ratio is rather irrelevant, IIRC spool on the 9ff is around 3650rpm, the power band on 1100+ HP would wreck havoc on any "long" gear, added state of the art traction control, lsd and the likes and I can't really see the porsche doing more than 4 seconds to 60mph

4000rpm to spool up the turbo

I find this no different to whacking a massive turbo on any car, yes it can go 256 million mph but is it a one trick poney?

I guess compared to the Veyron I don't see it as an everyday car, more either a track day or weekend car. You're right on the spool, but the size of the Turbos simply limit this, if you were driving this how it was meant to be driven I can't see how you'd drop below spool range :) It's also about controlling and harnessing the power, I guess you could drive the car at its limits and never really worry about internals, oil issues, temps and the likes as its been produced in such a way.

So yes, a one trick pony, but a very nice pony :)

It's called the silverstone track or a race track you can maybe hire out for a day :D

Actually yes it was, that was the 9ff GT9 getting hammered by the Ariel Atom on top gear and the Lambo... and the corvette.

Basically 980 bhp in the original was not enough (0-60 in 5.2 seconds?!?!? what was that about power, havoc and gearing?) so they have made the 9ff GT9-R with an extra 200bhp on top (which is the new one ahuxham link) I'm not denying when you get Past 80-90mph that it goes like preverbial off a shovel on veyron beating proportions, but they make you wait for it while the rest pass by.

And I will still go out on a limb and say for 99% of all applications the car is pointless!! How would it fair againsed a 1000+hp Skyline round a track? especially a short and twisty one!

Its a perfect NASCAR fast in a big circle lol ;)
