I’ve just watched a sneak compilation preview on the bbc website of some of the new doctors coming episodes, and they really look good. My only criticism and I doubt I won’t be the only one. The tweed jacket and bow tie really don’t work and I hope that’s not going to be his regular attire.

Hes not strictly gay (technically he is described as something else) but he will do anything with a heartbeat and there were some scenes in Torchwood between him and Gwen that were close.

Ianto said he wasn't actually gay but drawn to jack so jack might be transmitting a pheromone or something.

The Doctor can only regenerate 12 times.

Although if the Master can manage more, there may be hope for the universe!

-quote-

In The Keeper of Traken, the Master (Geoffrey Beevers under different heavy make-up but playing the same incarnation as Pratt[7]) succeeds in renewing himself by taking over the body of the Trakenite scientist named Tremas (an anagram of "Master"), overwriting Tremas's mind in the process. Now played by Anthony Ainley, the Master appeared on and off for the rest of the series, still seeking to extend his life – preferably with a new set of regenerations. Subsequently in The Five Doctors, the Time Lords offer the Master a new regeneration cycle in exchange for his help.

I dont think either of these options are open to the Doctor he is not going to willingly take another beings life and as The End of Time established the Doctor had imprisoned the other Time Lords in the Time War they are not likely to want to hand out any more reincarnations to him.

Perhaps the BBC will just hope we have not been keeping count.

If the series is still going then they will dream something up won't they.

Perhaps an "Inverse Tachyon Beam"™, seems to work everytime in Star Trek ;)

Just hope it better than the first twelve incarnations were all a dream...

There is always the possibility that The Master may reappear at some point, and do something to the Dr in order to 'torture him for eternity' etc... There's always plenty of options! :p

They filmed the cafe scene in the Khardoma cafe in Swansea (the scene then cut away to a London skyline). Dr Who is like spot the landmark to any South Walesian.

I spotted that one.

I thought the eps were ok, it was good to get some more Dr Who anyway as it was rather scarse last year.

I think that they have already included a nice little explanation for the regeneration thing. Back when The Master took over earth he captured The Doctor and reset/cleared all of his regenerations so that he showed his true age. In the end of that episode The Doctor was restored by the focused well wishes (a bit fluffy but it is aimed to kids) of all of humanity transfered through the masters psycic control link. This restored the non-regenerated Doctor to full health and a managable physical age. They could easily quote this as an excuse for another twelve regenerations from that point as the affects of all of the old ones were first reversed then washed away.
