Will now be trying to convince the powers that be to let me do a big upgrade of all machines to Windows 7 and Office 2010 next summer as well as Server 2008 upgrades Rich

localzuk Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Loving some of the new Outlook features. Conversation grouping, quick steps, the easy to find and use 'Mailbox cleanup' (it shows how much space is used! as a bar!! woo!!) Shame it'll be an age until we bite the bullet and go for an update.

I like how they brought back remnants of the "File" menu that we were all used to. I also like how Outlook now has Jump Menus in Win7 for things like new mail message/contact...

Theblacksheep Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 (edited) Webapp for sharepoint 2010 tips: 1: On server 2008 I had to uninstall powershell before install. serverR2 works fine. 2: Its in the docs but don't run the Sharepoint2010beta config after install and before the OfficeApps install program. Dont run the sharepoint post config and install the OfficeApps straight away.... that way you have no powershell commands to put in to link apps up with sharepoint. mikeglover Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Just installed MS Office 2010 Beta today after seeing it on a salesmans laptop. Looks very good. As the salesmans said to me, its great for normal end users and the menu system is organised in a way you expect things to be. It's just us techie's that are screwed! We still using in school MS 2003 because the jump from 2003 to 2007 would requires quite a bit of retraining for staff as I'm sure many of you will know and understand. Hopefully we will be jumping to Office 2010 in the new academic year. Anyone know if they are going to release a free sharepoint 2010 like they did with Sharepoint Services 2007?
Crispin Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 I thought I'd just let people know who are thinking about trying out outlook, be careful! I connected my touch pro 2 to see if syncing worked and somehow it managed to wipe my phone's contacts ^^ Thankfully they're backed up on microsoft's myphone. (Great thing imo) Also, it doesn't seem like the outlook connector works. Tried it on two machines, same problem. Errors when you send/receive and open outlook. That is on x64 though. Obviously its just in beta, but I'm really liking the new interface in outlook. One thing that I hate though is how the send/receive option is on a different tab to the 'new mail' button. Not something a lot of people would find annoying, but when you're testing emails or waiting for a confirmation code or something it's gonna add up to a lot of extra clicks. Maybe i'm just being picky.
