ICTNUT Posted December 6, 2009 Author Posted December 6, 2009 In previous versions the status page is what carried out the checks hence you had the loading icons while the check was being performed this also meant that the user accessing this page had to be a member of the admins group otherwise the page did not display as it should and checks did not happen. As we had many requests for this page to be made available to all we move the checks to the admin area which means as long as the admin area is left open the check will be done, close the admin area and no checks. This is the only way to do this without the need for client agents to be installed and we wanted this to have a much a zero footprint as possible. If you look at the screenshot attached to the update post earlier you will see the new layout with the countdown on the bottom right. 1

ICTNUT Posted December 12, 2009 Author Posted December 12, 2009 @ICTNUT - sent you a PM Have replied Is it up? Not yet found a small problem with adding sensors, will have this fixed and should be up this weekend ready for all to install Monday
ICTNUT Posted December 13, 2009 Author Posted December 13, 2009 OK All, v1.5.5 is up and ready for you to get your hands on. Remeber there is no upgrade path on this so as per my previous post create a new site and when you are happy take down the old one. Install docs ( OP SmartMonitor ) have been fully updated with Server 2008 / IIS7 & 7.5 docs coming in the next couple of days. Download is available here: OP SmartMonitor | OP Software - Solutions for Education Feedback on this thread or here: OP SmartMonitor
Edu-IT Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 Look forward to playing tomorrow. Thanks Ozan!
Edu-IT Posted December 13, 2009 Posted December 13, 2009 (edited) How do you get the public site to display? I'm just getting a blank page when I go to servmon.domain.internal? Edit: Also I added a server then when I try to add a sensor for it, it's not in the drop down list at the top? Edited December 13, 2009 by Edu-IT
ICTNUT Posted December 14, 2009 Author Posted December 14, 2009 Hi Guys, Those of you getting the blank status page please do the following: Open default.asp in notepad and look for the following section (around line 190) 'Reset server objects rsServerData.Close rsGroups.Close Set rsServerData = Nothing Set rsGroups = Nothing You need to remove adoCon.Close and save the changes. I have already updated the download source.
Edu-IT Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Right. So the page is now showing but there's no servers listed, even though I added one with a Ping sensor?
ICTNUT Posted December 14, 2009 Author Posted December 14, 2009 If you go to the servers tab is it there? What icons do you have next to it if it is?
Edu-IT Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 If you go to the servers tab is it there? What icons do you have next to it if it is? Yes. It had somehow become excluded. I'm sure I didn't do that! When you update an item, it defaults to being excluded, that's why.
ICTNUT Posted December 14, 2009 Author Posted December 14, 2009 By default it will be excluded from checking as when you add an item there will be no sensors added to it. Ideally you will want to add all your items you wish to monitor, then add sensors to those items, then enable the monitoring off sensors/items.
Edu-IT Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Got it, thanks! Set a ping test on our main server and I'm getting a warning, even though everything is correct.
ICTNUT Posted December 14, 2009 Author Posted December 14, 2009 Where are you getting a warning, on the overview tab or the public status page? If it is the first check the time of the last check and make sure that it has updated since you made the change. If it is the public page this pulls the status from the database and relies on the check being done so it is possible that you are seeing a status that has not been updated yet. Also if you add any items and set it to be monitored but you have NOT added any sensors these will display as a warning on the public status page.
Edu-IT Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 I removed the server and added it again and it's working now.
