neilmc Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Ok, right off the subject of IT, wanting some new shirts for work, don't want to spend to much so was looking at Asda George and tesco, but im rather fussy on sleeve length, i prefer short sleeves, i can't find a nice shirt with short sleeves, anywhere, unless i want just black, but was hoping to find something maybe burgandy or just generally different colours. does anyone know anywhere I can get some decent shirts from which are short sleeves? CHeers

It isn't my washing, as other items would be effected if it was the case, and I am washing at 30 deg c.

dalsoth Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Noticed this thread and had a thought. I wear a shirt and tie to work, my techie sometimes gets away with a black t-shirt and trousers. On a recent FITS training course one thing came up was a suggestion of rebranding the IT techs image around the school by adopting a "uniform". This may alter staff perception that we are just lackeys to be lashed into obedience. Was thinking about how suitable a shirt and tie are when i get stuck up stepladders pulling projectors off the ceiling and thought a uniform of a polo neck with combats would be more suitable. I notice a lot here mentioning shirts. How many of you wear polo necks? What would go with a polo neck? Combats or normal trousers?

The team wasn't uniformed unless it was cold and we all wore a black-polo. Our image went through the roof during the cold months Here I wear a full suit bought for me by my employer but so does my boss and so *will* my collegues. Everythings uniformed and I feel much better and dedicated to this role, because I understand that whatever I do can and will be attributed to my department (weather they know me or not). I do these with mine and havent had any problems at all.
