Has anyone resolved this issue. I have tried all the above but to no avail. Google earth works at home but not in school. Tried going through the staff proxy, adding exceptions, ticked box for secure connection. As with Phildw wonder how to set kh_pro as a valid user agent so I can try this. Any more ideas?

I am using Smart Notebook version 10.6.94.0 and windows XP Pro and have an issue with teachers switching users rather than completely logging out and the smart board service not running for the new user who logs on next. As teachers like to prepare their lessons prior to using the board, especially if another teacher is using the board before them, they often set up note book and then switch user. SmartTechs response has been to suggest users completely log out, thus allowing the new user complete access to the smart board service. Has anyone had the same problem and found a work around?

M understanding is that placing any commercially recorded music on the server is an absolute no-no, as it breaks copyright. Making copies is also an infringement of copyright, I believe the only thing you can do is buy individual copies for individual people.

We're a primary school, and yes we do, but as with other posts, they rarely use them.

As with Webman we have our own internal email system that is monitored. The kids have no access to external email systems or social networking sites. All internet access and IT use generally is closely monitored. We also recommend teachers do not use external email services in schools (this is a Becta recommendation), and all school business is carried out using the school's email system. I recently had to insist the Deputy, who is also the Safeguarding officer for the school, stopped using his Yahoo account for school business, he really couldn't understand the implications for not only him but also the school of using a public email system!

Check out ebay, you can get some shirts which are the real deal for a pittance, or if you have a TKMax nearby this is the place, low prices but with a lot of style, which you will not get at Matalan, Primark or Asda.

Russdev just found this old thread as I was looking at using Flashmeeting for a video conference with a school in Sri Lanka. SWGFL have suggested this site as a way of getting into basic video conferencing, but in your experience is this a good avenue to persue if attempting first contact with a Sri Lankan school who are six hours ahead, and would eventually like to move towards video conferencing invloving large groups of children? Any advice would be welcome, Thanks.

Congratulations! I must admit, I think I may have been sending you down a blind alley! We use RM Ones and Fujitsu Esprimo 3510s, and as such its very easy to do what I suggested. However I wasn't too keyed up on the use of these notebooks, and the size of the hard drive etc. It does seem like many educational establishments are going for this kind of machine due to its functionality and mobility. Anyway, I hope it all pans out OK for you. Good Luck

Mmmm, So what is on the C:\ drive and what is on the D:\ drive? And are they mapped to a server? How about creating a third partition (E:\) saving an image of C & D separately, copying these to each machines E:\ drive and then Restoring them to each machines C:\ and D:\ drive? I have two ICT suites. One (the Key Stage 2 Room) is all singing all dancing with the machines logging onto the a Windows Server 2003 using roaming profiles. I also have another ICT suite for Key Stage One, where the machines are much like your machines using a standard XP logon, with Teachers and Pupils having user logons and each being mapped to folders on the server. These machines have been partitioned with a Ghost Image copied to each D:\ drive and then restored using Ghost. Works a treat. So it would be interesting to know what the D:\ drive is for. I'm off home now, but will check out the thread when I get there.

Hi George I'm not sure why you would have the need to image both the C & D drives (does D hold a recovery image?). But my experience, assuming you are using a Windows Server network has been to - Partition the hard drive on all machines. - Create a ghost image from the master machine after having loaded all the software you require, saving it onto the master D drive. - Copy this on to the network so it is accessible to all machines - Copy the image onto the D drive of the next machine. - Run ghost and Restore the image from the D drive. - You will then have to rename the machine on the network. This is done by... - Removing said machine from domain. - Restart the machine and login as the administrator. - Rename the machine. - Restart and login as administrator - Reassign to the domain. - Reboot You end up with all the machines with the same software / applications / different names on the same domain.

You need to find out if your school or the local authority are responsible for the payment of a music copyright licance.
