Ben-BSH Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 well, i used to be with Orange, and have had my iPhone for around 6-7 months now, and personally, i find O2 are a far better provider with far more helpful support and signal coverage down here in the muddy land of Cornwall! so if they offer similar prices, my money would still be on 02..

triggmiester Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 I am with Orange and was very close to leaving to go to O2, however it would have been a big hassle with my number, now I don't have to, just wait a few more months and pretty sure I'll get a free upgrade :-)

teddybear Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 I wish this was announced back in June. I'd have waited as I was with Orange, got good service from them and the O2 signal in a few schools isn't great where is was better with Orange.
triggmiester Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 I know that moving numbers is easy, but I was going to run both phones side by side for 5months until my Orange contract ran out and then try and get my number across, they told me a O2 that was possible, but I'm not so sure, but now no hassle :-)

Signal wise there has only been one place where signal was pants but I won't be going back there again and that was when I purchased my car somewhere near london but I dont work or go to London and when I do its very rarely. Other then that I have had great signal reception - 3G reception can be a pita esp when you are trying to use googlemaps for aprox directions

Unlocking is using one of the third party apps (such as ultrasn0w) to be able to use any SIM in the phone. You can jailbreak without unlocking - but you have to jailbreak if you want to unlock.

I think Apple have to realise it's a gimmick limiting their phone to certain providers. What difference does it make? Apple would sell more phones and sell more applications. Limiting to one or two providers makes no sense at all. No other phone manufacturer does it, probably because they want to sell as many as possible.

Eg if I would like a 16GB 3GS On O2 for 24 months, the handset costs £87.11 On Orange for 24 months, the handset costs £87 So 11p cheaper! Monthly costs for O2 - £34.26 for 600 min + 500 Txts Monthly costs for Orange - £34.26 for 600 min + 500 Txts Exactly the same!

featured_spectre Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I put myself on the register for the 16GB upgrade, as I have been with orange for 7 years, and have had the same contract throughout, I pay a nominal fee (£13.98 woot!) and get the phone as soon as its here, which as it happens is the same time I renew my contract
