Pre ordered mine this earlier, family pack is only £39 which is pretty reasonable.

I am going to upgrade my MacBook Pro hard drive to a 500GB before i upgrade. This should be fun....

exactually the same thinking, i have a 320 to go in mine before i do the upgrade, couldnt quite afford the a 500gb but hopfully i should see a little bit of a speed boast over the old 160gb unit which is now practically full.

The good thing about the mac upgrades is that pricing will likely remain even after release unlike windows 7 which starts out cheap and is gradually getting more and more expensive pre christmas holiday rush.

Have you seen the performance specs for the server and what hardware they run them on? Hardly standard industry level specs are they?

Hey I find it annoying that it lacks that Microsoft have had it for 3 versions of Windows now, blasted Apple Copy-cats

how does it save 7gb of space when you upgrade does it delete all the ppc based crud when you install the upgrade and seeing as its an upgrade from leopard I presume that means you have to have leopard installed first before you can run the snow leopard installer ?

 

Or can I just use the snow leopard disc and install snow leopard from fresh as a full installation ?

 

Appologies if its a daft question as not had to do an upgrade for apple macs os before so its a new one on me.

You can upgrade for the £25, but if you don't already have Mac OSX then you'll need to buy the full version.

Indeed. Seems it comes in that iWork bundle for around £140.

It would seem that you would have to purchase the box set. I'm sure a clean install is possible if it detects a previous 10.5 install or you otherwise have the disk.

Thanks to Apple's nasty hardware/vendor lock-in, you're now forced to upgrade hardware, which means giving them more money. Sucks

Is my mac special or have they removed Garage band from the main OS disk or is it different when you buy the Mac. I don't have iLife or iWorks on mine but I do have Garageband (sorry remeber im a mac newbie here!)

Yes I do, they run windows very well and they can default to that as well Was a good buy spec wise from a fellow Edugeeker Just needs a bigger HDD then it will have Win 7 on it as well as Leopard

i'm sure that Garage band comes with iLife, and new Mac's normal come with iLife:)

Thanks for that, I bought it 2nd user from a fellow Edugeek member so I know it was on the disks I got with it but they don't say iLife or anything its the main Apple disks hence my confusion.
