Any recommendations for an instant coffee?

The downside is that the machines cost a couple of hundred quid but the capsules are only 26p each so comparable with a decent instant brand.

 

 

You are buying scarily expensive instant coffee if it comes to anywhere near 26p a cup (and that's forgetting the huge cost of the machine)

 

It is still cheaper than going out for coffee and better because you can drink it without being tempted to get a pastry as well :-)

Look around for small local shop that sells beans as lot of them will grind it for you as well.

Did you mean the ones I use are expensive? If so then maybe, but it's not instant - it's real coffee in pods (and much more range and better taste than the Tassimo ones).

 

Carte Noir 200g @ £5 is not 'cheap' though and £2.50 for the same thing at Costa is just a con (but I still find myself buying them though )

 

Having said that, the Carte Noir instant is about the best of the bunch in my opinion.

We have just run out of Kenco here and they have bought Nescafe instead...which means no coffee for me until it is all gone...partly cos it taste like sh!t bust mostly bacause of this...

The Nestle Boycott

 

I care! I have boycotted Nestle products for this very reason for nearly 21 years - from when my first child was born and the National Childbirth Trust publicised what Nestle were doing.

projectors that won't switch on

computers that won't allow me to put the proxy in for no discernible reason

teachers who look at me with puppy dog eyes because I can't get their new laptop sorted for them to take home

sitting in a room with a server that is very very warm

dealing with aging parents

dealing with recalcitrant children (mine and others)

doing all the housework/shopping/cleaning/dog walking despite the presence of said children at home)

looking at smarta**** posts

I had a Morphy Richards one which was pants - the jugs kept cracking and then when it was only about 2 years old, it started leaking. I bought a De Longhi one on special offer, and it is much better.

My personal choice for coffee beans is Sumatran Gold Organic Fair Trade Coffee - 250g Beans.

 

Also comes ground if you don't have a grinder, but since you can get one for around £20, I'd say go with the beans and keep it that bit fresher.

At home I switched to an espresso maker rather than filter, as I can easily do a single cup quantity of industrial strength coffee.

 

For the beans, Costco do big bags of beans which Starbucks have blended for them, which I find makes a very decent cappuccino.

I still recommend a Senseo. Fast, and good coffee. The coffee pods are reasonably priced as well, commonly available in your average supermarket and there's a good range.
