mattx Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 The birds have left the nest so we decided to point the cam at the bird feeder....That was until we noticed a wasps nest...... We tossed a coin as to who was going to mount the cam, lucky for me I won so I got to make the 25 meter cable whilst the science technician climbed the ladder and almost got stung... http://217.206.81.234:8081/ Keep watching, you may see one pop in or out after a while.... 2
EduTech Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Woo! seen 2 fly in lol They look huge on the camera! jesus
mattx Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 Not sure how long they will be there, some of the staff want it removed which would be a shame - would have to point the cam back at the bird feeder then.....
Andrew_C Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Now we know where they live ! Hatefull little bggrs... Come the revolution THEY will be first against the wall; even before amoral MPs.
localzuk Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Can you add a motorised poking device, which people can activate to poke the nest?
mattx Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 Can you add a motorised poking device, which people can activate to poke the nest? Don't laugh - the science tech and myself are working away on such a project - a kind of robot you can control via a web page - we have some of the lego stuff so i think something along the lines of blue tooth and an upload option with a cam to show is moving...... Just trying to make it as simple as possible. As for the wasps - not sure how long the cam will last where it is, [ outside with NO protection and clipped on the side of the gutter ] with a rather long RJ45 cable to extend the USB cable. If it rains I don't the cam will last as it's about the size of a box of matches & made in china......
mattx Posted June 28, 2009 Author Posted June 28, 2009 I've [ hopefully ] sorted the cam out - it went a bit nuts during the Thunder Storm yesterday. Lots of Wasps going in and out in and out shake it all about....
sparkeh Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Argh! Giant wasp face on my screen! That is actually quite scary
EduTech Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Y'know when you get rid of the wasp nest, can you leave the cam on so we can all have fun watching some poor sole get stung to death
john Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 ooooo giant wasps Surprised we haven't done this yet at work for somethings, we have a large pile of un-used webcams as well......
