I've just a real scary 60 mins or so.

Wanting to logon to a server as the Admin I actually forgot the password. This password I've been using for wait for it......over 5 years - and I had no idea what it was. The only clue I had was the automatic action of my hand over the keyboard - in the end I was close but missing 1 letter from mixture of characters - over an hour of desporate activity trying to remember what it was.

In the end I pulled it out my encrypted password wallet from within Firefox.

So it's downhill for me now - better start to look for anther job !!

Not at all. Just change all the important passwords you need to something like 'password' then write it down on a big sticky note to go on your keyboard. That way you won't forget. :D

T'is more likely that your nervous system has encoded it into a series of key presses in the same way that you walk without "remembering" how...

A kid once threw me completely in the same way when they asked me very seriously how I was able to walk.. I was stood stuck to the floor for a good 3 minutes while my sub-concious gave up and took a tea break, leaving my frontal lobes to flounder around and scream "But we know this one!"

Sounds daft I know but I've found that trying to type my password on a german keyboard or one where key letters have been subtly moved is an absolute nightmare. What's unconcious becomes a case of "Damn, what the heck was it again?"

Never, ever sit down to think about how you keep breathing. It took me a good minute to realise that I'd stopped when I did that.

I think that the only reason I manage to get home at night is thanks to the satnav.

And you know the rot is setting in when you sit in front of the tv and get excited because Crap in the Attic or Bargain Hunt is on.

Satnavs are dangerous, never trust them.

You accidentally put in the wrong town, tune out a little while driving, and three hours later realise you're in Cardiff. Not that there's anything wrong with Cardiff, but at the time I was trying to get to Chesterfield.

Christ, I hope I remember where my house is when I go home later.....

I'm sure you will, if not just camp in the Server Room thats the best way :)

Hmmm, Cardiff / Chesterfield - bit of a spelling difference there?!

:troll:

I was tired!

And I just hit the first one to come up after pressing 'C', without thinking, or looking.

Suffolk has Waldingfield and Waldringfield. One near Woodbridge, the other near Sudbury.

Err....been there, done that!

Sadly I didn't need a satnav (prat-nav?) to make THAT mistake.

Don't laugh, I actually spent a night in a data centre once in my old job....

I watched the Chelsea Flower show last week - and I enjoyed it....

.... I'm a sick man...

Lol I once set that as a password for a student as a joke - although the joke was on me when we found out the said student was dyslexic.....ouch!

The comedian and sketch writer Barry Cryer wished that as he was now in his 70's, someone would invent a stair lift fast enough to get him to the top of the stairs before he forgot why he was going there.

My Grandfather (now 93) once told me that he knew he was getting old when he bent down to tie his shoelace and thought...what else can I do while I am down here...

I have decided that I am getting old because I read some of the posts on here (like the one today about House) and think...tut tut young people today have no tolerance.

Oops better tie that shoelace up...

Oh and I was at a recording of "I'm sorry I haven't a clue" last week and Barry Cryer is still one of the funniest people on the planet... :)
