Would use it to get to LEA blocked stuff like a few games news sites (gamespot.com etc), during breaks, but I fear the LEA would track its use and come down on us

It's blockable via ISA, blocked now at our school.

 

As per usual we will do the job the LEA is mean't to be doing.

E2BN already have it blocked for students but not for staff. I'm not complaining, I'll be using it later ^^

It isn't blocked by RM, but I have done it through our proxy server.

Another one to be aware of is http://www.stealth-ip.com or http://www.stealth-ip.net

The .net is blocked by RM, but .com isn't. I have blocked this as well.

I keep meaning to tell RM, but you know what it's like. Busy, busy, busy.

I just wanted to know who filters the sites at school. Is it the IT technicians or is it the filter companies such as E2BN ??

Depends some just rely on their LEA/E2BN or however provides it.

 

Others suppliment this with their own filtering as well and some do 100% their own filtering.

Our LEA uses websense for our filtering, however, they seem to miss a hell of alot of stuff, so we filter stuff on our ISA server instead. Its just easier, more thorough and quicker than waiting for our LEA to block something, allows us to block any site instantly

Similar to Jake here. LEA uses Smartfilter. It misses a lot of things. So we supplement it with Dansguardian.

There's about a million sites get through our filter, I've added over 200 proxy sites in the past month!

Our webfilter (surfcontrol) blocked as its listed under proxies and translator category which is banned for students.

Yes i'm a student, it's obvious from the screen name.

I want to know because well it's obvious, sick and tired of finding new sites then when you come to use them next time around they are blocked by E2BN.
