Ric_ Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 So I'm happily minding my own business on the phone when I turn around to find my technician has had a slight 'accident'. May the ribbing begin! BTW - This is after washing it off his hands (and face!)
stu Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 and there wasnt that much on my face! just bit it was in my hair more
Soulfish Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I managed to splash my shirt with pasta sauce at lunch - I've been hiding in the office ever since!
Hightower Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Can you not ask your technicians to have their ties done up properly Ric? Looks so unprofessional!
Ric_ Posted March 31, 2009 Author Posted March 31, 2009 How??? Like I said... I turned 'round to find a cyan stu! I managed to splash my shirt with pasta sauce at lunch - I've been hiding in the office ever since! I think cyan ink beats you there... although the kids had all gone by the time this happened. Can you not ask your technicians to have their ties done up properly Ric? Looks so unprofessional! The youth of today hey? (he says doing up his tie) - it's bloody warm in here so I can't be too mean.
Joh619 Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I did this once with a black cartridge and I had to bleach my hands
Dom_ Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Last week i went to check out an old konica minolta printer... the blue cartridge was empty, but they had to print urgently... So i proceeded to shake the cartridge to get that extra bit of life out of it, unfortunately it exploded all over my crotch. No pics but I wouldn't make it up!
Hightower Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 The youth of today hey? (he says doing up his tie) - it's bloody warm in here so I can't be too mean. Aye - fair play. I'm sat here roasting and can't wait to get out in the fresh air. Wish I could undo my tie but the HT goes on every minute of every day about kids not having ties done up, so I suppose I should set an example.
webman Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Better cyan toner than red blood ... or green blood for that matter!
trekmad Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Unfortunately I haven't got any pics but last year I asked one of my techs to change a toner cartridge in the room next door. He thought I meant the photocopier in a different room and released the toner bottle which proceeded to cover the copier, carpet, walls and of course (the most amusing part) him. He then came back into the office covered in toner asking for help. :-)
K.C.Leblanc Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 The nearest I've got is splitting my trousers while lifting a laser printer. The really annoying thing is that it wasn't even our printer, it belonged to our sister school. Had to send the rest of the day sat down. EDIT: I have also managed to cover myself with the foam they use to fill fridges.
witch Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Yesterday I was just congratulating myself on having managed to keep hold of a pen for a whole week (I left it sitting on a note stating that I would curse their computers if they stole it) when a box of CDs fell off the shelf above my head and landed on the pen and it EXPLODED! Luckily it was one of those handwriting pens so the ink washes off - it was all over me, the desk, the floor, and my server The headteacher thought it was very funny Me? Not so much!
plexer Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I once wanted to see if an epson I think it was cart was empty by blowing into the vent hole in the top of it. As you can guess there was plenty of ink left in it. Only went all over the desk of the heads pa which thankfully was easy enough to clear up. Ben
FN-GM Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Chewing pens is a favorite of mine, the ink gets all in my mouth.
Little-Miss Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I cleaned out an inkjet once...that little spongey bit on the side...some how ended up wth my one arm covered in it up to my elbow....blueish tinge was there for a few days..
webman Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 When I was in year 7, I spun a fountain pen round on the desk; momentarily forgetting the effect that centrifugal force would have on the ink inside. Nice blue pattern on the desk though - give it a go
Sirbendy Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Ink splatter is one of the accepted reasons for my keeping latex gloves in my desk drawers. I say "accepted". Not necessarily "believed". Along with the whip (left by a teacher, very effective on numpty staff at the printer), and the Axis 2100 cam (GIMPcam), they go a long way to explaining some of the rumours about me, and what myself and the NM get upto after hours. Believe it or not, staff are somewhat scared of us... We do encourage it. Staff come in, rip the trays out the printer because their work hasn't come out and therefore it MUST be out of paper (we keep it stocked)..there often follows a "swish, crack, AARGH! NO! LEAVE IT alone. Does it SAY "pull my bloody trays out?", Is there a red light? No? Then LEARN - now go away and click the "OK" button to start the print, fool." The message gets across speedily. It also works to keep the head of IT in line...if he sees me pull on my gloves with a crack and a grin, he tends to wander off quick.
grumpy_git Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 I managed to get a nice cyan stripe on my jacket once from a used toner cartridge... and there's a wall in one of our basements which I always lean on, and always end up with a chalky/dusty muck all over. I'm down there next week and I'm sure I'll manage it. Yesterday I was just congratulating myself on having managed to keep hold of a pen for a whole week (I left it sitting on a note stating that I would curse their computers if they stole it) This is a good idea! Anything left on my desk tends to go walkies. I'm not much better myself, as the pen collection is usually replenished with various biros I've subconsciously uplifted from desks/floors etc.
russdev Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Can you not ask your technicians to have their ties done up properly Ric? Looks so unprofessional! lol I did think that myself as well.. Russ
kylewilliamson Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 My colleague here once dumped a pint glass of water over the head's PA's desk....
john Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Sir Bendy perhaps you can lend Ric your whip to whip Stu into shape so he actually wears his uniform correctly, I don't care how warm it is you should look smart at all times, I've been rigging lighting and fitting projectors in Shirt and Tie in the past so you should always look the part. We have a reputation to live up to and to show were professionals it should be shirt and tie at all times really, except holidays or when you have a very specific pre-planned job to do.
contink Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 You lot haven't lived... Oh the stories I could tell about ink, dyed hair, face, etc... Ah well..
