tech_guy Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 (edited) Looking for a decent screen to use for Xbox 360 - the wife has insisted Xbox 360 departs bedroom but present LCD TV stays where it is so she can watch TV in bed and not me running people over in GTA4 or blowing them up with rocket launchers... So, what do I spend my money on? I was thinking of something that I can hook both my main PC up to as well as the 360 Xbox in the spare bedroom. Been looking at up to 32", etc, but main concern is having the best possible viewing scenario for BOTH PC USE AND GAMING. What do you have at home or would you recommend? The budget is £400 max. Don't tell the wife! Edited March 25, 2009 by tech_guy
EduTech Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I like the iiyamma monitors, their latest one has HDMI and DVI and VGA so your able to have Xbox360 via HDMI at 1080 and have your PC attatched also 24" is pretty good... and the price is good too James. GTAIV FTW!! 26" http://www.iiyama.com/en_GB/Product/category/2/product/152#showtab2 (DVI and HDMI) - £ 279 SRP ex VAT 24" http://www.iiyama.com/en_GB/Product/category/2/product/159 (HDMI - 1080p)
EduTech Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Mine does! but you have a point Tech_Guy might not have it.... me jumping to conclusions!
apoth0r Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I use a 37" tv in my bedroom, use a hdmi/dvi for pc and hdmi for the xbox. Works really well. HDMI xbox just looks awesome, the pc is a little ropey but hey DVI to HDMI really isn't going to be brill.

tech_guy Posted March 25, 2009 Author Posted March 25, 2009 Yes, the the 360 Xbox is an Elite with HDMI. Was thinking of going no more than 32" to stop the PC display looking too ropey?
tech_guy Posted March 25, 2009 Author Posted March 25, 2009 GTAIV FTW!! I'm sorry I don't do roman numerals - I was forced to do Latin at school

StewartKnight Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I have mine on a Samsung LE32R....somethingorother. Looks superb, and with the 5.1 system it rocks!
Michael Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Samsung and Sony's I can recommend. That's what I use with my PS3, but providing your XBOX has HDMI it should perform the same.
Reaper Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 HP L2475w is a good monitor though no speakers sadly, I normally play on an HP 2207w with HDMI and that is very good and has speakers!
Butuz Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I would suggest Viewsonic or Iiyama 26" TFT's. Support 1080p, VGA and HDMI for your Xbox, and VGA/DVI for your PC. £300. Admittedly a fair bit smaller than a 32" TV but frankly £400 32" TV's dont support 1080p resolutions - so are less good for viewing PC and Xbox. Butuz 1

john Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Anything Samsung will be fine. MS apparantly worked with Samsung to develop the "games mode" that they have on the LCD TVs to be optimum with XBox 360s.
tech_guy Posted April 22, 2009 Author Posted April 22, 2009 The Samsung LE32A558 32 Full HD TV is 1080p and £399.00 Cheers for this info - I was looking at this one online on Monday as a possible!

tech_guy Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 What do people think of: Toshiba? Richer Sounds? They've got this deal: TOSHIBA 32XV555 at Richer Sounds - HI-FI Separates, Home Cinema, Speakers, MP3 DVD Portables, Plasma LCD, etc. Is it any good?
CAM Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 What's the HD connection for the white XBox consoles called? It's lots of individual coloured ones.
