Reset NEC VT575 projector lamp hours?

Recommended Posts

Posted

We have an NEC VT575 projector here with a failed bulb that's been pushed beyond it's recommended lamp hours.

We've replaced the bulb but the projector won't power on (the power light is amber - standby and the lamp light is red).

The manual states: "When the lamp exceeds 2100* hours (up to 3100* hours in Eco mode) of service, the projector cannot turn on and the

menu is not displayed. If this happens, press the HELP button on the remote control for ten seconds to reset the lamp clock back to zero.

When the lamp time clock is reset to zero, the LAMP indicator goes out."

All well and good but the remote doesn't have a HELP button!

Any ideas folks?

EduGeek saves the day again! Had this error this morning, decided to leave the projector down and put all the caging back. Should have checked here first as it's such a simple fix. Now I've got to take down the caging again, put the projector back up.

Darn I hate projectors.

Does anyone know what the beep codes are for NEC projectors?

I have one which beeps, then flashes an orange status light before pausing. The status light indicates that there is a lamp error but I'm not sure if this is the lamp completely dead or if there's something else. I've tried to reset lamp hours to trick it into working again.

I'm going to take the projector down to give it a clean etc but in the meantime didn't know if anyone knows what the beeps are.

Sounds like failed ballast potentially. Swap the lamp from a known good projector for the one in it and you may find that the lamp is fine but ballast has gone, or may find that the lamp has gone, if thats the case try the known good lamp in it and it will fail to light if the ballast has gone.

@everyonelovescheese I got some cheap from Amazon for £15 although delivery was expensive, they do everything you need, they look like tv remotes but who cares, it works for turning on/off etc

Also dragging something from the past! In some cases it might be more than 10 seconds, mine eventually reset after about a minute.

We have just had a solid red lamp LED on one of our NEC VT37s.

We had to hold the "HELP" button for about 10 - 20 seconds. I seem to think, this resets the filter and lamp hours.

I have the ancient VT45 but has worked well for us for 15 years.... :)

Our bulb finally reached the time to buy a new one. We ordered it and will arrive later this week. Thinking ahead, I would like to know how we can reset the lamp timer too. We do have the remote but does not have 'exit' or 'help' buttons.

It does have one for 'on' and a different one for 'off' and a few more.... anyone have any suggestions??

@AWendland try holding the off button for 10 seconds.

You can try this before changing the lamp to see if the status lights change.

The manual does say help button for 10 seconds.

Just in case anyone else finds there way here as this seems to be pretty high up on the Google search results, I can confirm that the 'Home' for 10 seconds works well on the NEC PA500X models also.

I have no home button on my remote, which button are you referring too...?

Would really appreciate your help.
