It's going to file server and application server and running all the admin applicatons. Our current admin server is going to be the print server. The idea is that we don't have to upgrade for a while at least 3 years.

We are upgrading our server this summer. We are currently looking at the Dell PowerEdge 2900. It will need to run 90 machines with an additional 16 machines next summer. The question I have is it two powerful and are we spending money on something we don't really need. It will be the main server in a new whole school network. What would the ideal specifications be?

At present I am on my own with 80 machines and laptops! Not bad going when they all work!

Any suggestions for some software that's easy to use to create labels for displays! Currently using Banner very restrictive!

With regards to Curriculum online money most software suppliers state whether the software can be bought using COL money. Look for the COL logo which is the attachment

It all depends on how your spend them. Our school has over the years had many good things such as digital camera's camcorders, loads of software. Using them to buy a pc is not a good decision because the specifications they offer are not at all good value for money

I agree! It so much easier to have patience with someone or at least makes an effort even if it is to acknowledge how little they know.

Hi I am Lauren I am and Techie for a primary school in bournemouth. Started off with just supporting the staff 4 years ago now am quiet capiable of putting my hand to anything. Which is not always a good thing. We have IWB in all 14 of our classrooms which are run with various projectors and all teachers are using laptops. Our current IT suite (16 pc's most 98 I know it's bad) hopefully will be replaced in the summer Yipee. Our classroom network has 24 machines all XP. Thats enough about my school. So glad to have found a forum dedicated to crazy technical people. I would like to know how many primary schools especially in the Bournemouth LEA have actually got Technicans on site and what kind of hours they do.
