Do you use impero by any chance? We have a current issue with the (as of the time of writing) latest version of impero which seems to disable the mouse after you disconnect from a session with that machine. If this happens on a desktop you can just reseat the mouse in a different port and it fixes it but obviously this isn't possible with a touchpad so we have to enable it within Device Manager. At least we think the 2 are linked. We have the Dell Latitude 3190 laptops and the same thing you describe is happening.

Windows 10 Enterprise key available on EES? (NOT the LTSB version)
rpycroft replied to rpycroft's topic in Windows 10
Hi, thanks a lot for your prompt replies everyone. So long as I'm not alone in lacking the Enterprise full blown edition. Yeah I can see the Education edition. I just had some trouble blocking the Store on 32 bit machines on anything other than Enterprise edition. Doesn't matter that much as we only have a few machines that are 32 bit only. Everything else on 64 bit. Thanks again guys -
Hi there, I am trying to get a test build ready for Windows 10 Enterprise so that we're ready to roll it out whenever we think the right time is however the key doesn't seem to be available when I log into our volume licensing (EES agreement) area. Does anyone else with the EES agreement have access to a MAK code for Windows 10 Enterprise? Not the LTSB, Education, Pro or anything else please, they're all available. I called Microsoft but they said I'm not eligible for it. Seems weird that everything else is there just not this. Have attached image of what I see just wanted to check if anyone else with the same agreement as us can see their license key or not. Obviously don't want the actual key from you! Thanks Richard

I've been playing with Windows 10 group policy over the last couple of weeks. I've found the best way is to install the Windows Server 2016 TP4 on a VM and install group policy management on that. Then you can use the local policies from that to manage most things. Been able to block store, set up custom start menu and a bunch of other stuff that way. Cheers.
-
Hi, Just in case it will save anyone a headache in the future I've noticed on several of my test machines that you can't block the Windows Store using Windows 10 PRO x86 (32 bit): Computer Configuration --> Policies --> Administrative Templates --> Windows Components --> Store --> Turn Off The Store Application (Enabled) When the block is working correctly the store app loads but there's no content and it just says that it's block by the administrator. Other versions do seem to allow you to block it. Ones I've tried that DO work are: Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit Windows 10 Enterprise 32 bit Currently testing more versions to see. Anyone else come across this? Cheers EDIT: Just tried Windows 10 Education 32 Bit and this doesn't appear to block the Windows Store either.
-
You can block the store app with group policy. To do "proper" windows 10 group policy stuff I installed the Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 4 on a VM and added group policy management console to it. Works great so far.
-
We have turned off the first login animation on a couple of test machines and it just comes up with the "old" style Windows 7 login information which is good. Extra tip: Make sure you enable verbose login information in group policy to see more info on what it's doing as it's logging on.

@minimoo - that's brilliant thanks so much for the info. Apologies for hijacking this thread. Hmm, might give SOLUS3 a go then... I also tried it out early on and it was a real PITA. I said I wouldn't install it until we were able to configure it so that when the end user ran SIMS it would check first if there was a more up to date version. I'm sorry but getting the user to check with the agent if there's an update before they just click the SIMS icon just isn't going to happen. Cheers everyone
-
Does SOLUS3 allow users to pull the update down yet (ala SOLUS2) as well as the server pushing them out? This is the main reason we haven't updated yet... Thanks
-
Hi all, We've been having major headache with our SIMS server running slowly for some time now. Not sure if it's something to do with the fact that it is a Hyper-V virtual machine or some other reason. What is the ideal configuration for a Hyper-V VM that is set up as our SIMS server? IE: What CPU, RAM, Disk conifiguration etc should I have it set as? We have ours currently set up with a massively overpowered 12 CPU cores, 24GB RAM (with 16GB set aside for SQL 2008 R2). We also have it connected up to a Dell Equallogic PS4100. We have no other issues on other servers with regards to things running slow and all our other servers are on the same SAN and physical server setup. We've have several people from Capita, local authority and other outside agencies looking at this over some time but no one has been able to come up with anything. If there's anyone out there that has a similar config and things are running great for you I'd love to hear how you have it set up. OK, thanks for taking the time to look at this anyway. Richard

Just tried the hold exit and power trick worked first time. Saved us £150 cheers!
