Dos_Box Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Just to put some enquiring minds at ease, as I've had a few enquiries as to what we are giving away at BETT 2009. On our stand you may recive (depending on day and demand) EduGeek baseball hats Mugs (strictly limites supplies of these, so it will be first come, first served each day) Lanyards (to replace the idea of having badge stickers as we didn't have the time or cash to spot them out) Pens Stickers\car stickers (lots of) Bags (pump type) EduGeek Emergency Launch Buttons (these are really funky USB devices donated to us by the USB Company (one of our sponsors) and will launch EduGeek at the press of a button ) A lot of top notch prizes too numerous to mention donated by out sponsors and supporters. The EducateIT BETT suppliment, written by you guys, for you guys. And don't forget we will be having free pizza at 12:30 every day on the stand (G89) for all of our members who wish to get a bite to eat.
Sylv3r Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Thanks DosBox I'll be around on the Wednesday. Good luck with the stand and lets hope the member base increases through the hardwork put in by all at BETT.
Edu-IT Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 I think I'll probably be going to BETT this year. Would you recommend taking a suitcase for all the freebies? If I don't make it for one reason or another and there are some lanyards left over then would you be willing to post one if I paid?
Dos_Box Posted December 21, 2008 Author Posted December 21, 2008 The items we are to give away at BETT will be available in our shop (once I get around to sorting it out). But I some anticipate demand for the EduGeek embroidered t-shirts and shirts once you guys see us wearing them on the stand!
garethEds Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 I wouldn't mind an edugeek mug. Roll on the shop....
Little-Miss Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 oh, you're all going to look very smart kitted out in the baseball hat, t-shirt and lanyard....whilst sipping from your edugeek mug...lol I'm interested! When we gonna see this shop then?
Dos_Box Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 oh, you're all going to look very smart kitted out in the baseball hat, t-shirt and lanyard....whilst sipping from your edugeek mug...lol I'm interested! When we gonna see this shop then? As soon as I have something to sell We've had problems this year with BETT funding where some of our BIG supporters have not been able to support us as they have in past years which means that the money I had put aside for things like this has had to be spent on things like hotel rooms, plane and train tickets, insurance, electrical and other stand costs. Currently we have spent over £6000 and have not yet even gone to BETT!! I expect BETT to have cost us about 8k all in once we have finished on the Saturday evening. Once we get back I shall be getting more mugs, t-shirts and other goodies ready for selling on the shop.
tom_newton Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Dos_Box: I believe Sue has emailed you and El Tonerino, but if there's anything else we can do to help, we are both up for a trip to the MD's office, cap-in-hand Let me know.
SteveBentley Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Wish I could go to BETT but the timing is awkward this year The USB panic button sounds great!
Barneyr Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Hi all I was unable to attend BETT last year but will certainly be there this year. I will come along and see you all Hope everyone has a good Christmas and a happy new year. Barneyr
jamesb Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I'll be at BETT this year over the weekend. Must remember to visit the stand around lunch to grab some of that pizza.
GrumbleDook Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Other sponsors / partners / supporters do also provide other goodies such as password guidance posters (Smoothwall), Desktop Calendars (CP Ltd) and so on ... remember to get down to the stand early to ensure you get your goodies as some may be limited. There will also be prize draws culminating on a MediaCat system courtesy of Westwood Associates and Navaho. More details will be available as the show gets closer.

Dos_Box Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 be there thursday and friday, is there someway you are identifying the real edugeekers instead of those turning up just for a freebee hops You mean you don't have the tattoo across your forehead yet!

We need (in no particular order): Ant-acids Kalms Long holiday somewhere hot and balmy A long sit down with a single malt (or in Tony's case a large bare of quality chocolate) A Hug Words of reassurance It to be all over!
tom_newton Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 I thought Tony drank whisky too? I put a slug of Glenmorangie in my better half's honey & lemon last night... felt bad using single malt, but it was that or Smirnoff, and I doubt that has the restorative properties!
Dos_Box Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 No, Tony is not a big drinker (if at all). Walk him past a Thorntons window though and watch the shakes set in!!
Dos_Box Posted December 22, 2008 Author Posted December 22, 2008 Here are a few of the things we are giving away Oh, and coffee not included! 1
GrumbleDook Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 If I do have a drink it is *only* decent whisky/whiskey ... and I only do it at the twice yearly whisky tasting nights that are held locally. Thorntons? Pah ... cheapskate .... hotel chocolat ... champagne truffles by Iixx(sp) ... droooooollll (Please note that hotel chocolat products are *not* free on the EduGeek Technical Help Point and should you find any whilst visiting the stand you should leave them alone)
Sylv3r Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Here are a few of the things we are giving away Oh, and coffee not included! I'll be trying to grab another Pen. I think someone must have nicked the one I got from the edugeek seminar.

I was remembering tales of your tasting nights, hence i thought the single malt might suit you! You'll join me in a sly single malt in january, no?
Ric_ Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 A couple of points the tired deity forgot to mention: 1. Come and see us before you do anything else - it's the only way to guarantee your pizza! 2. Try to stick around with us after the show and you can join me on the blagg for drinks (and potentially food!)
Guest monkeyx Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Anyone give me a convicing reason to goto to BETT, other than silly give aways? Sounds more like a jolly boys day out on Tax Payers expense to me
Ric_ Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 Anyone give me a convicing reason to goto to BETT, other than silly give aways? Sounds more like a jolly boys day out on Tax Payers expense to me Why not attend some of the seminars on policy and best practice? Or you could ask a few head of departments if there is anything that they are planning to do in the next 12 months and then hunt down a solution. Or you could meet some of your existing solutions providers and see what developments they are releasing and what their partners may be able to offer you. Even if you have no specific purpose now, it's amazing what you will stick in your mind for when that wonderful new 'initiative' appears in a few months time. Anyway... what's wrong with just coming to meet us and have some pizza?
