rolfea Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Hi Everyone Weirdly I am sat here with no problems to fix, no passwords to reset or homework to restore. Research is starting to get a bit glum and I'm heading towards checking out my favorite bands on Wikipedia. What sort of things do you do when everything is completed?
gaz350 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Check those backups check those windows updates check those virus definitions check those it labs check check check lots of things to check!
tech_guy Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I go round the college looking for someone to wind up.
Guest Guest Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I read on here looking for new developements. Look around for free software and deploy it. I look at problems i have had and how to fix them, and i look at problem i may soon have and see how to fix them before they happen.
TechMonkey Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Hunt who has doughnuts/cake/biscuits in on and fix something in their room Use the time to pick up HUMINT (normally form pastoral or reception) Random project Tidying/Sorting kit Catch up on documentation Relish the moment
powdarrmonkey Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I always have some long-term projects on the go for slow days. Today, for example, developing my machine data-collection app.
irsprint84 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I m building a web based helpdesk system with ban manager and room booking system intergrated
john Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Feel free to come up to the sunny Lakes and help us out, we would welcome any extra pairs of hands!!!
Andrew_C Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 (edited) Current fill in a few mins type job is bodging the swively chairs so they can't be wound down so far the teachers can't see the bggrs over the screens. A couple of holes, and a long bolt through the stem. Oh, and looking at these pictures (perfectly SFW) Edited December 3, 2008 by Andrew_C 3
powdarrmonkey Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Oh, and looking at these pictures (perfectly SFW) Wow, they're beautiful..! I lived in London for a while, you'll never hear me admit it but I do miss it a tiny little bit
tmcd35 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Great pics. Reminds me of the view from the plane when I was returning from hols back in August (seems sooo long ago now ). Back to the OP - erm, post here! These pages keep me sane during the quite moments. usually between 15:30 - 16:00 while I wait for the right time to sneak out, hoping nobody'll find me with a small job that needs doing now!
mattx Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I've had two dumps today which means i have had quite a bit of 'thinking' time to myself.....
TechMonkey Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 We can't 'think' anymore. They now have energy saving motion detecting lights in most of the toilets. If you 'think' too long it suddenly goes all dark. Most unpleasant.

elsiegee40 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Crikey. If I'm that short of work, I usually resort to tidying my office... it doesn't happen very often!
webman Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Web development usually (currently my room booking system which I haven't had much time to work on in the last 2 years ... )
SteveBentley Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 It's been reasonably quiet at work so I finally had time to put a new hard drive in my machine (to replace a creaking 120Gb example) and put a fresh software isntall onto it.

If you 'think' too long it suddenly goes all dark. Most unpleasant. That's the least of our worries - they've installed ultraviolet lights in ours to stop us mainlining...... (only joking)

rolfea Posted December 4, 2008 Author Posted December 4, 2008 Oh, and looking at these pictures (perfectly SFW) The picture are amazing BUT I'm sure everyone from London will agree with me in saying that the picture of "Big Ben" isn't Big Ben... it's St. Stephens Tower. Big Ben is a bell I don't know why but that bugs me
dhicks Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 What sort of things do you do when everything is completed? I don't know, the question's never really come up before. -- David Hicks
powdarrmonkey Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Hmmm, this gives me an idea for a new thread.... Whatever it is, the prospect scares me in many many ways.
