sending remote messages

Hello we currently use vnc to view / remote to other pc's. Is there software i can use to send messages to a pupil when they are logged on i.e stop trying to search for proxies haha Edited November 26, 2008 by mikeymike

We have the Messenger service disabled on most of our workstations.

Following on from the OP's question, is there any software out there that doesn't need installation on workstation and yet can still send messages when the Messenger service is disabled?

Open a paint window and painstakingly draw your message out in freehand!

We have italc in all suites here so you can send a message by right clicking on the screen in question.

 

Pops up in a nice little box saying "message from admin" or "message from teacher"

 

Also means if they fail to comply we can lock their screen or take a screen shot for evidence.

I generally find you need to take the screenshot / video first because the first thing they do when you lock or message them is hit the power button

does it need to just be downloaded to server or all machines as well??

Not if you make the power button do a standby instead.

All is preserved on screen as it was when you press a key on the keyboard

We don't enable it because kids sent each other messages using it through hyperlinking in Microsoft Word

Sounds like you've got some clear kids, you could use GP Software policy to get round this, just don't think it will work as it'll block your messages. Might want to look at single user license for Dameware.

 

You can also lock the keyboard\mouse with it too

All do the job very well..
