Im trying to work out if I can get more money towards school printing costs

Can you let me know the following:

1. If you have a separate print budget?

2. How much money is allocated annually to printing in your school?

3. How many pupils you have on your school roll?

Thanks

Interesting - our budget for printing is around 6k but we spend around 24k. We have 1450 students (11-18) and 150 ish staff.

we recharge all printing to departments because we where spending way too much on printing. Making departments pay for it has reduced it by 75%. Basically they only now print what they need to. They are charged on a monthly basis, these are passed onto the finance manager who did the transferal of funds between budgets.

ICT suites plus staff areas 6.5k this year

We don't do bad for printing as we have printer credits and the staff who don't have a department printer are limited on their personal credits.

I'm not sure any of my primaries ever had a budget but I do know my first school went from wasting £1k on average a year buying inkjets + cartridges, and then letting them dry out to because no-one knew how to change the cartridges...

So, I arrived with two CIS Epson C84's and (then) experimental CIS kits and blew the budget to £1.5k in the first year BUT the savings were close to £3k compared to OEM consumables.

Nowadays we're saving around £2.5k or so with a spend around £800 (+about £200 required for maintenance) a year for inks and the occasional replacement printhead.

We currently charge like this but are looking to move away from it as the teachers don't care to much how much they waste.
