steve_nfi Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Hi all in Techie land Just wanted to know if anyone has used 'The IT Index' by Probrand before? I had a quote for some laser cartridges and they were quite reasonable but just wanted to know if anyone had any experiences with them, ie; reliable/unreliable etc? Cheers

Cheers Hiya Steve , As an official sponsor of edugeek we would love to provide you with a quote for your toners and are sure we can save you money against any quotes you have so far, Simon 1
Guest Guest Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Yeah Proband are fine. Good prices, good service, but appauling website.
Vegas Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Agree with j17sparky, good supplier awful wesite. 1
jsnetman Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 We have been using them for a few years now. Excellent delivery times and never had any problem. Other toner people ring up and I just say if you can beat IT index we will buy, none of them can. 1

seanmh Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Got mine from CP, Simon was a star and undercut the competition, give them a try. Highly recommended! 2
plexer Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 We've had toner from CP good prices excellent free delivery. Ben 2
kmount Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 I found IT Index irritating, sending me mails every few days asking if he could quote on stuff ... In the end I got quite rude and said I'd call him when I wanted something, not the other way around. I've been using CP for a few months now with good success, even shared a beer and some laughs with the team there, well worth a go in my opinion. 2
hcir Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Hi I am interested in all of your feedback on The IT Index site - especially the negative things / dislikes as we are currently working on the next version. Also if anyone has any other feedback, please get in touch. My contact details are as follows:- Richard Hunter-Rice Business Development Manager Probrand Ltd email [email protected] dd 08708 539129 Many thanks in advance. 2
Guest Guest Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Id say its fair to say we want a site along the lines of the Ebuyer - Cheap Computers, Laptops, Digital Cameras, TVs & more! style. Your current site is horrible to use; i find myself choosing a product on another easy to use site and then searching by model number on your site to see if its cheaper.
kmount Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 I do that on other provider sites using Misco as the base line ... The problem being I think they've got sharp to it as its deathly slow to use now 1
powdarrmonkey Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 I got fed up with probrand/TITI calling me every three days just to say hello. 1
MkII Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Really very bad experience with Probrand/ IT Index. Cheap yes but appalling isn't a strong enough word for their customer relations. They go out of their way to make sure you know you aren't valued. They used strong arm tactics to stop the truth being told on this site. Don't think about trying to return anything, it just doesn't happen. 2
john Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 They have been great with me, get the odd email asking if I need anything which is fine, just ignore it if i've nothing to quote / work on at the present moment, if I have they get a reply. Website a bit clunky but not that bad, ive had worse 1
SpuffMonkey Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 Cheap prices - but when I had a problem, it was a 'mare getting it sorted. As stated - the sales people can be irritatingly pushy, specially when you've asked them not to call and their website monitors your actions - so if you have a look on there at prices - minutes later you get a phonecall about it. I've ceased to use them, even though the prices were good. 1
steve_nfi Posted September 8, 2008 Author Posted September 8, 2008 Thanks once again to everyone that replied but I've got to give credit where credit is due. Simon from CP gave me a quote not to beaten. 2
hcir Posted September 8, 2008 Posted September 8, 2008 (edited) Thanks for your comments on emails and too regular contact from our sales reps - I will take this on board. Gatt Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Yeah we use Probrand/IT Index and the constant "need anything" emails/calls is now getting a tad annoying - especially since we havent used them for months since they decided that "Can You Quote Us..." meant "Nah we dont really care how much it is so send us..." We then had to get them to agree to come and collect said items... We use other suppliers now..
SteveBentley Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 We've stopped using IT Index having got fed up with the pushy calls, and we found other suppliers more competitive.
hcir Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Gatt, I will call you tomorrow to discuss your comments in more detail. Richard
plexer Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I have used Probrand a fair bit in the last few years but not so much recently because their prices have been beaten by others and I haven't got time to play ping pong. However my account manager Rudi is first class and they don't tend to ring me just becuase I was looking at the website these days. They just sent me a wrong item a single gang tech connect plate instead of the dual gang it was supposed to be and Rudi sorted that out fast and has said I can keep the other one as it's such a low cost item not worth getting it picked up which is fair enough. I have to agree the website is awful and finding anything is a pain unless you have a item code to search with. Ben 1
Oops_my_bad Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Really very bad experience with Probrand/ IT Index. Cheap yes but appalling isn't a strong enough word for their customer relations. They go out of their way to make sure you know you aren't valued. They used strong arm tactics to stop the truth being told on this site. Don't think about trying to return anything, it just doesn't happen. COULDN'T AGREE MORE!! The amount of hoops I had to jump through to return a printer (box was fine, printer was smashed to bits! Otherwise I wouldnt have signed for it!!) and then be told in no uncertain terms to foxtrot oscar! Needless to say I will not be wasting the taxpayers money on these cowboys again! Good prices yeh - but just don't bank on being able to return anything. 1
dirtydog Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 we use them for a lot of stuff and other than the website not being great I haven't experienced any of the above comments. I can only assume we have a really good account manager 90% of the time they are cheaper than everyone else and saves us time looking around TBH. We have used them for a while as we never get the sales calls but some suppliers do drive me nuts for constant calling.
