No idea how this should even be possible, isn't the point of locally hosted software that you're not reliant on cloud services for it to work?

The server itself still has to check in with Impero that its a validated version and license for the installed application.

Thing is, with the prior posted workaround, how long can we potentially go for (if Ativion don't fix the issue in a reasonable timeframe) until the software decides it hasn't checked in for X number of days and cuts us all off again?

I've spoken to Impero. If you ring them they will sort the license issue out.

Best to ring your account manager (if you have one).

Hi! Natalie a product manager from Ativion here.

At the start of the day we have bene informed that some customers’ licenses have been incorrectly revoked, which may show as the licence with key “XXXXX” has been revoked. We are investigating the cause but our priority is restoring all affected licenses first. No action is needed on your part; we will restore licenses automatically.

I think I'll wait for the fix to be implemented, rather than chasing. With our Impero server internet access restricted, and the License files restored, it's now working for us. Staff are happy, so I don't want to jeopardise that.

Same here. They're normally pretty fast to respond to license reactivation requests but no response yet.

Interesting someone mentioned they had money issues - they were very insistent on knowing when they would be paid after we sent our PO to renew the license this year (we normally specify we pay within 30 days etc)

The DNS fix using the hosts file has worked for us for now

Ahh - it's not just us!

We don't use Smoothwall though - we have a Sophos based firewall.

I'm sorry for that, I am sure there's a cure ;)

Ours is down too - our renewal is in July so wondered if it had ran out but I was confident ours expires on the 17th (can't load the console to double check as it says in the bottom right) - our Server has gone back to a newly registered state and putting in our activation code does nothing.

I'm guessing I just need to wait and it should come back up - will get on with some other things !

Mine is licensed until September 2027 lol.

Just received a call from them - they have manually reapplied our licenses while I was on the phone and it's now working for both schools. So expect a call shortly!

Just in case anyone found that the DNS / Proxy method allowed Impero Server to run but clients couldn't connect -:

I ended up removing the DNS / Proxy entries, stopped the server service, restored the two working license files from a backup and set them to read only. This then allowed Impero server to run and clients to connect

We are getting 'Error with Internet data returned' when trying to re-register. Is that the same error that others were getting before it was fixed?

Did you do the intial "fix" to get it working by changing your Proxy etc as this would need to be put back to default before you tried it?

No didn't touch it. I have however, been making  a lot of other security related changes recently so I'm worried I've broken something else at the same time! The server still has internet access. I'll keep trying.

Could also be that they havent got to your license key information yet.

Hi, I’m back with an update!
Thanks for your patience today. Our team are continuing to monitor.

All licenses are restored. You may need to re-register your Education Pro Server using the steps below:

  1. Open Impero Server.
  2. The Registration window should appear.
  3. Enter your establishment name.
  4. Enter your contact email address.
  5. Enter your licence code.
  6. Enter a password. This will be used as your Console Access Password.
  7. Complete the registration.

If you do not have a record of your license key or this is unsuccessful then customers should contact [email protected] for further help.

@mitchell1981 this can occur if the machine cannot reach license portal - for example if the address hasn't been white listed correctly. Support will be able to help identify if it is that and get it connected.
