The awards system on the old site were, IIRC, a plugin. We could (possibly) get everyone's old scores and put them in, but we'd have to check what the rules are for the new awards built into here are.
This could mean that everyone gets ranked as the Emperor Of The Known Universe, which could create friction.
And the need for a sandworms forum.

I second this. Starting from the bottom as Dave Lister, working your way up through the ranks of officerhood to Captain Hollister, then the ranks of being - Skutter, GELF, Legion, the Inquisitor etc

Well, it's a long story and I wanted to advise @Dos_Box and @ZeroHour about it instead of posting, but I couldn't send a message as my mailbox is apparently full...

 

Short version is, I did actually post something and then tried to delete it... I couldn't work out how to delete it, but found out I could edit it and delete everything, but I had to type one character in order to save the edited post... I have previously brought attention to the minimum character limit in another thread.

 

As if I would inflate my post count for something as meaningless as... OH LOOK! I'M AN EXPLORER!!!

I don't think I ever quite understood the connection between "thanks" "reputation" "post count" and the rank achieved.

 

For a moment I though reputation/thanks count had gone but i found them still there on the profile page.  

 

I quite liked being able to see everyone's reputation/thanks-to-post ratio as a proxy indicator of quality/trustworthiness. Hope this can come back at some point.

I always loved the fact that you could effectively give back to others by showing how much you respected what they said, what they did and for the knowledge they had. I know it got inflated by certain things but it was, in general, a darned good way of doing things. It was an interesting plugin and one that I had seen/used in a different forum when it came in. The use of dislike (or whatever it was) was always going to be problematic and who remembers when we had a few members with scores reaching -100!!!!

I remember people being clobbered by the negs. At least one survived is still around today
