Classroom management - Chromebooks...

Hi all,

 

We're exploring the implementation of a classroom management tool to help teachers manage student Chromebooks during class. The idea is to provide features such as,

 

• Remotely freezing student screens.
  
• Viewing student screens in real time.
  
• Other functionalities to support classroom productivity and focus.
  

 

So far, I’ve come across Impero and Classroom.cloud, but I’d love to hear about any other tools or solutions you’ve used and would recommend.

AB Tutor's latest cloud version can manage Chromebooks; I've been meaning to trial it for awhile, but haven't managed to get around to it.

1 year subscription Site license to cover up to 500 devices is £2,016 Plus VAT this was back in 2023.

 

240 student devices and unlimited teacher consoles a 1 year subscription of LanSchool is £1,397.52 Plus VAT

We use Securly Classroom which works well.

Smoothwall now offer a classroom tool - it's not something we go big on in the UK (simply because not many people want it), but its in use in huge districts in the US. Particularly if you're an existing filter or monitor customer this can be very good value.

Hi HyperTech, the price is quite low on Smoothwall Classwize, but it also depends on how many students you have.

If you are already a customer, contact your contact person, otherwise send an email to [email protected]

Tom is not working on prices and is probably quite busy with the Bett fair.

 

The product has many good features such as the teacher can have their own favorites that means that all the tabs the student needs to be opened at once.

The teacher can share their screen with the whole class or only selected students.

Also good if you have a USB microscope connected, for example, so you don't have to darken it but just share the screen.

 

If you have Google, all classes are taken from Google Classroom so you are up and running in no time..

Never knew that smoothwall had a classroom monitoring tool, I wonder if there's an option for trial like senso & classroom cloud provide.

Smoothwall has had one for quite a few years.

But it is not marketed directly in the UK, as the focus is on the other products.

I don't know how it works with a trial license in the UK, but you can definitely get a demo of the product.

What is the pricing like for Go Guardian? While looking into classroom management tools I came across a post about a lot of American schools moving away from go guardian due to the price increases each year and a lot were moving over to classwize or linewize.

Google are launching a tool that may do what you need if you have Workspace Plus - Class Tools.

It's not cheap, in the region of £3k for filtering and classroom options.

Yes, I am still recovering from BETT (including getting us all back to Leeds with all the trains cancelled). There was a marked uptick in people asking about classroom. We have had the classwize product running successfully in the US for many years. It is available in UK, but we haven't pushed it yet, as sometimes talking about too much stuff is a bit confusing
