Classroom management - Chromebooks...
ItsOnlyAniPad replied to TheHyperTechie's topic in Cloud Services
What is the pricing like for Go Guardian? While looking into classroom management tools I came across a post about a lot of American schools moving away from go guardian due to the price increases each year and a lot were moving over to classwize or linewize. -

Never knew that smoothwall had a classroom monitoring tool, I wonder if there's an option for trial like senso & classroom cloud provide. -
Smoothwall - google games
ItsOnlyAniPad replied to nispire's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Has anyone been able to successfully block the google games either via impero or smoothwall yet? Pupils just default to these google games now as realise they are one of few websites that aren't blocked. -
Hello all, Currently in the process of trying to lock down our windows 10 1809 image before we start mass deploying to classrooms, the major stumbling block I have encountered at the moment is preventing pupils and to some extent teachers been able to browse UNC paths of servers which contain files that they shouldn't be accessing. Does anyone have a working solution for this? Is there somewhere that I can just put a list of server names etc that shouldn't be accessible? Thanks

WJEC Surpass exam website crashed....
ItsOnlyAniPad replied to ITGuyNW's topic in Educational Software
Same issue here, first noticed the administration page was slow before it eventually died. Took 15 mins to get a response from WJEC as all the phone lines were busy, eventually were told to move onto paper exam but receive a phone call 20 mins later stating "Exam clients are working fine" and we shouldn't have being told to use paper. Typically we never used the online version of the test were running this morning as the previous subject leader preferred pen and paper ..... I wonder why. -
Well weren't offered the online version I only found out it on this thread but got response from PISA when I requested as I could foresee issues with the USB tests and wanted the online tested beforehand. Unsurprisingly the online version didn't work.
-
At least you have the information beforehand to prepare for the tests. Why the online version didn't work for us I don't know, I was more worried by the lady on the phone telling me potentially the login details we were given were being used somewhere else....

PISA are shocking to get any support.Attempted the tests this morning with the USB'S, the test USB cable that they sent worked fine on all machines once sophos is disabled, come to try it this morning and 2 out of 40 worked. No differences between the machines at all. Eventually they gave us access to the online system which I had asked for last week but got no response and that didn't even work, even after allowing the URL's they requested just got error username and password. Hours wasted by me and by numerous staff just for £100 for doing the tests.

Hello, Getting an issue with a projector I have in my school, the issue started a few weeks ago and now it just doesn't turn on anymore. The power LED is static red and the lamp light is flashing red, I've tried cleaning the filters and even put in a replacement bulb to see if that resolves the issue but I just get the same LED status lights. Typically this projector was purchased via grants and cost small fortune at the time to install so ideally want to fix it myself if possible. Has anyone experienced an issue with this projector model (Hitachi CP-A221N) or a similar model?

WJEC 20MB File limit for ICT coursework uploads
ItsOnlyAniPad replied to PotNoodleTech's topic in Wales
Just funny that this "new way" is meant to be simpler, easier and less work for teachers and support staff. I don't want to know how many hours that have being wasted in comparison to just putting things on Disc/USB, fill out the paper work and done. -
WJEC 20MB File limit for ICT coursework uploads
ItsOnlyAniPad replied to PotNoodleTech's topic in Wales
The communication from the WJEC is awful. And it's not isolated to just ICT based subjects, language based subjects that are also using the upload portal are not explained well at all. All it's created is a last minute panic and alteration to files when teachers should be teaching and I could be fixing broken equipment within the school. -
WJEC 20MB File limit for ICT coursework uploads

Yup had this issue today, considering last year the same amount of work went on a couple of CD's. Don't think WJEC has a clue, just made our IT teacher panic while trying to zip and convert to PDF only to still be over the limit. -

Hello, I'm looking for a company / charity that that accepts compatible toners for recycling and preferably provides a box in which to put the toners in and send back. I've looked through old posts here on Edugeek and a lot of the companies mentioned previously don't seem to exist anymore. So It would be nice to know what people use now, in an ideal world it would be nice to get a little money back for the toners (More money for the school to use elsewhere) but I would imagine not many companies pay for compatible toners at least.

Had an email back from laptopbits, £81.96 for a replacement keyboard and only one in stock. The search continues.
-
Unfortunately even searching on eBay with the part no (584816-031) only brings back two results which are £100 each, certainly don't want to be paying that sort of price.

Hello all, Just wondering if anyone has any specific websites that you go to when looking to order replacement keyboards for laptops, our school has quite a few HP Elitebook 2540P laptops which the kids have now started to pull the keys off. Had a look on eBay for replacement keyboards for that model but really not having much luck in finding anything. So if anyone knows of some websites I should be checking out or someone that maybe has the same issue with the HP Elitebook 2540P, any help would be greatly appreciated.
