Miele - If only new PC's were made like this!

This is a serious bout of uber-household-nearly-married geekness but we just took delivery of a brand new Miele washing machine as we just knew the old one was doing it's bearing tearing death dance this past month.

 

For whatever reason the 10 year parts & labour warranty along with the reputation that Miele have for their washing machines we decided to go the whole hog and spend silly money on this one...

 

... and boy do I NOT regret it...

 

I mean, just in terms of noise reduction, I have to keep going downstairs to check it's still working. The cats will happily sit next to it and watch the washing go round instead of running for cover whenever it's on... and when I work out what old washing machines have cost, I'm just somewhat amazed...

 

Perhaps this whole domestic bliss thing is a taking over... assimilation? Who knows, either way, I love this machine...

I'm a Miele convert too - finally persuaded SWMBO to ditch the Dysons and get a Miele vacuum and it easily outperforms said Dyson at less that half the cost...

I have a old bosch machine that's doing well, and it gets a hammering in this house! My parents have an AEG machine that's a good 8 years old and still going strong. My Grandad always has to show every one else up and has an AEG machine that's god knows how old, at least 20 years! So yes definitely something to be said for german engineering!

Hmm... I'll pass this on to my parents, as they seem to get through washers on a 3 yearly basis, and driers on a yearly - 2 yearly basis. I just use whatever is in my current rented accommodation :-P

Bosch white goods for me they are very good and Sebo Vacumn cleaners, we use them at work and that shows how good they are, still going strong 10 years on some of them in heavy use, all thats been changed are motor brushes, and some have had new flexible wands / hoses and beater bars (as with 10 years use cleaning 5 days a week for 45 weeks a year they do wear out but they do a lot of carpet and flooring!) but the motors and other very key parts are still going strong! German FTW (points this to DB for his next car choice)

Worth noting that Miele have a 10 year parts & labour warranty offer on until the end of the month so if your folks are seriously thinking about a new washer at this sort of level this would be a good time.

 

 

Just as an update... I went down to observe the spin cycle and had to sit down... It's just not noisy at all... Normally I have a shouting match from the kitchen... Not anymore

I'd love a Miele washing machine, but I doubt I'll find delivery men strong enough to haul it the two-and-a-half stories up to my flat. In a somewhat bizarre coincidence, the lady behind the counter where I bought my current washing machine actually used to live in my flat, but kindly avoided telling the delivery chaps about my twisted and narrow staircase.

It was a close call here, but Bosch won when I replaced my Washing Machine & Tumble Drier a couple of years ago and both are brilliant. I can't even remember why we chose the Bosch instead of the Miele, both are good.

 

I have a 15 year old Bosch fridge-freezer in the garage which we've been intending to sling out "when it breaks". We brought it with us from our last house, and didn't need it in the fully fitted kitchen in this house. It's brilliant for coping with the larger quantities of food I have to buy now the kids are teenage bottomless-pits.

Miele they're the Apple of Appliances. Work well, cost an arm and a leg and are impossible to repair yourself.

 

I have a Miele Dishwasher (Turbo Thermic) 7+ years and going strong.

I had a Bosch washing machine, brilliant bit of kit. Lasted 10 years. Finally died when the door fell off, but I think that may be down to a three year old swinging on it!

Miele vacuum cleaners are great. It is definitely worth spending the money on decent quality equipment. We splashed out on a Neff oven, washing machine and dishwasher and they are all superb (the same machines are also branded Siemens and Bosch sometimes) with great build quality and performance.
