Who do you use for redundant hardware disposal/recycling

Hi all,

We have been using Stone recycling for reductant hardware disposal for the last couple of years but recently they have become more restrictive on what they will accept an none of our kit is new enough for them

 

Who do you guys use? Do you get free collections or are your resigned to this becoming a paid for service.

I've used them for years, but the service seems to be getting a bit unreliable now. I've had a few instances where I've booked a collection and they've not turned up, when chased they tell me its booked in for for a different date.

 

Today I've been waiting for them to collect a cage and they've just not turned up again.

We've had similar experiences. I tried to sign up years ago, but never got a response. We've now been using them for about 6 months, but booking in collections is a bit hit a miss.

 

Otherwise I really like the cage service - it works really well for doing collections in term time and that frees up time holiday time for other jobs or even holidays...

just throwing my 2 cents in, what is it you're tryna get rid of? we have multiple recycle partners here at Millgate, some that offer kickback for kit some that charge for it, just depends what you've got.

Who do you guys use?

 

We've tended not to throw stuff out until it's completly dead, at which point we use our normal waste management company (First Mile), who provide special sacks for electrical items. Something like £20-ish for a sack that can take (I think) 20kg, so I guess around £1 per kg.

Volunteer-run, very well organised - they turned up to pick up a bunch of PCs exactly on time when they said they were going to, which is an important thing for us if we're oragnising equipment going in and out of our very space-limited building.

Have used various companies over the years, but some have now started charging.

 

Started using https://www.wetradetech.com/ - and like some other companies, you can order a cage. Once full, book a collection and they swap it out with another one at no cost.

+1 for Enviro Electronics, started using them just before Easter this year as our previous collection company shut down - no issues, turned up bang on time and had no issues with the load up.

Anybody use webuyram? Just had an email offering free IT recycling for all equipment, including toners and smartboards, and wondered if they were any good?

Check that "toners" covers toners from larger printers. We've found recyling companies in the past that will take cartridges for "home" devices, but not for larger office / commercial devices as they aren't as valuable to recycle. Again, we just get toner recylcing sacks (£10 each, I think) from our regular waste disposal provider (First Mile), which are nice and simple to have them collect.

Am interested in this - have you received any monies back at all? Most of our stuff would be antique, so not sure it would be worth anything! But interested to know if they do pay out for some things.

Nothing yet, takes time. If anything, it’s a free collection and recycling service.

They turned up to collect the cage first thing yesterday morning.

 

Driver was very apologetic and said they've had some staff illness and he was a warehouse worker covering for a driver who was off.
