  1. Hi all, anyone else getting this recently? When launcing the various apps from the start menu managed users are seeing this UAC errror. What is happening is on first launch as each user a separate msi is being ran from C:\Windows\Installer. Sadly this does seem to be per user so doesnt help to pre-lauch each app once as admin post install. Have any of you seen the same issue and have you have any success in finding a fix? Thanks in advance!
  2. Thanks ITGuyNW I will take a look
  3. Hi all, We have been using Stone recycling for reductant hardware disposal for the last couple of years but recently they have become more restrictive on what they will accept an none of our kit is new enough for them Who do you guys use? Do you get free collections or are your resigned to this becoming a paid for service. TIA!
  4. Video Editor is not in the latest windows 10 22h2 iso so look like we're going to have to explore this. Anyone had any joy with this in recent months?
  5. Hi All, We're starting to use RUM and have the internal server setup and successfully tested updating photoshop on a machine by remoting in and running the command line "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE_Enterprise\RemoteUpdateManager\RemoteUpdateManager.exe" This might be a silly question but has anyone been able to automate the process? Ideally I'd be able to push a command from something like SCCM and client machines will magically update themselves without needing to sign them in first. Scheduled tasks maybe?? Tia!
  6. We ended up using Stone for this and were quite happy with their service pre and post collection. Their rebate prices were pretty good and was all a smooth simple process. Recommended!
  7. Hi @Symbiosis I don't believe Cubase uses the elicencer anymore and you keep the licence file on the machine. https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-us/articles/6593785878290-Steinberg-Licensing-Offline-Activation If you have any problems let me know and I'll try and help as I had exactly the same a few months ago.

  9. That's not what I wanted to hear but thanks for the update!
  10. @fiza did you ever get this sorted? We seem to be in the same boat. Added the Intel Rapid Storage driver for 11th gen intel cpus (f6vmdflpy-x64) and winpe can see the C: drive and gets to first reboot. CMTrace looks mostly ok but oddly states not enough disk space to install x and y driver - although they are ~512GB nvme drives.
  11. Hmm, yikes! Looking back over my historic POs they were always made in July but last year was not until September. How odd! I've just emailed him asking for an update.
  12. Thanks both. I think you've made up my mind to stick with ETLA! Yes we've going through Howard at JISC and know he's waiting for the updated agreement so think we'll probably wait to see what comes of that.
  13. Hi guys, We currently use ETLA in the FE college and has worked well for us. Being able to install onto any lab/shared machine and price based on FTE staff has been quite a hassle free experience. I'm now seeing a lot about the VIP program and vendors pimping this to us but from what I can see is back to being based around purchasing x number of licences and reviewing that as and when additional installs are required - all seems a bit of a faff to me! Has anyone had any experience with the VIP program and would like to share? Prices good compared to ETLA? Admin console access/deployments and updating just the same? How have you found managing and updating licence requirements over the year? Or am I totally misunderstanding the whole thing (as usual..)??! Thanks as ever
  14. Thanks all, We use Stone regularly so have fired them an email and also contacted Techbuyer Europe. Fingers crossed!
  15. Hi all, We have a load of old HP and Cisco kit which is redundant but still holds a fair bit of value. We use recycling firms to dispose of old PCs etc but don't have any experience with trying to sell kit on (in a hands off and pain free way) If any of you have done this before and could recommend and particular vendors/companies that would be very welcome indeed. Oh please don't suggest Ebay!!! TIA!
  16. Hi all, As the title says really, I have been asked to see if there is any way of finding out how many of our students took up the Adobe CC offer that is now coming to a close. I think its to try and see if it is worth adding student home use to the ETLA licence we have which is currently only home use for FTE staff and college machines. I've had a sniff about on the admin console but cannot spot anything on there and will obv not show up as usage on our licences because it's not actually using our licences as such. Any help/advice much appreciated!
  17. Brilliant, thanks Martin. That's what I wanted to hear
  18. Hi all, Sorry for yet another Adobe licencing question! We were a bit slow out the blocks getting this new system sorted and had been using device licences for many years but had to get on the case to allow the students to take adavantage of the Adobe C19 offer. That's all done and we have all students and staff accounts imported. As I understand it the ETLA licence means that we purchase a CC licence for all FTE staff and that grants us site Shared Device licence for student/lab use. However on the admin console it displays the available machines as only 1, and currently in our early testing we have installed on 2 devices and so shows as 2/1 Machines used. An the named licence All Apps - 100 GB this is listed at 0/640 which is correct - 640 staff currently non named users. Am I missing I trick here. Do we not have "unlimited" shared device licence after all? Do I need to so something else on the admin console? Or is it because we have the elta/site licence will the number always be one to signify unlimited? Thanks in advance for any help
  19. Hi all, So I've just realised that standard users are able to install fonts onto the college macs (High Sierra and Mojave) and it installs it into the user/library/fonts folder. This is obviously an issue with licencing with sites like dafont offering free for personal use and shareware fonts which we shouldn't be using - totally free or free for commercial use only! Does anyone know of an easy way of preventing write access to the users font folder or something else to prevent font installation? We use mobile accounts using their AD credentials. Out of interest how do you guys manage issues like this? Currently dafont is blocked completely but would be nice for users to have access to at least see fonts for us to manage the install, but other font sites are still available that we're either going to have to block or find another solution. Ta for any help peeps
  20. Hi all, Since going from 1607 to 1809 we've had the issue where Photoshop crashes on start-up. Specifically the initializing panels bit. I've done quite a lot of digging and while it seems that a fair number of others have had the same issue but the only workaround seems to be to stop redirecting appdata but this just seems a bit heavy handed for a single program. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-10/195226-photoshop-cc-crashes-just-media-teacher-1703-1709-a.html https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/2163741-photoshop-cc-2018-on-win-10-initializing-panels-crash We did try to put a gpo excetption in place so that it doesn't redirect application data/adobe but had no effect. Has anyone actually had any joy in getting Photoshop working in 1809 and keeping appdata redirected? tia!
  21. Hi all, We use Office 2016/o365 on our Sierra macs in an AD environment and the students are setup with mobile accounts through their AD logins. Currently when they launch an Office app they need to sign in to federated services, which more often than not they skip and start complaining when it all starts playing up.. Has anyone had any joy getting ADFS single sign-on working on OSX systems? If so, any tips? TIA
  22. Hi all I've created a windows 10 image including the Creation Suite 16 using the licence server option and when testing I get IO errors about incorrect paths. The software seems intent in looking at the local admin (original installer) local appdata and local mydocs, which obviously and managed network user will have no access to. If I install the software on a standard win 10 pc when I login as a different user it seems to automatically set the 2 paths to that users mydocs or appdata, so I'm assuming there is something in the imaging process that 3dsmax doesn't like? Has anyone else had a similar issue and have you had any joy in solving the problem? Thanks.
  23. I've just Projector lamps & bulbs, replacement projector lamp or bulb at cheap prices | Just Projector Lamps UK a few times now. Pretty cheap and (so far) reliable.
  24. Hi Blundlellm, thanks for the reply - it is appreciated even though its not the answer I wanted to hear! Re Profile Manager I am far from an expert, and that is an understatement, I tend to follow things parrot fashion after someone else tells me what to do! But, from what I understand the trust profiles are downloaded onto the client device (ipad/imac etc) and those are what enrol them into PM and remove the placeholder then allow you to push settings/apps etc. So no, they don't give the end users themselves and additional control. I'm sure someone else will be able to clarify this though.
  25. Hi all, I'm trying to get my head around this VPP stuff and sadly getting a bit confused with the whole licence per user thing. We want to licence per machine rather then user for many reasons but everything VPP seems to steer you to licence and deploy to users through their apple IDs etc which seems crazy for students using shared computers (as in many different users using the same mac at different times). I don't want to think about the nightmare of setting each and every user up with an Apple ID. I've seen about using redeemable codes spreadsheet which hope would allow us to deploy to machine rather than user. In an ideal world all I want to do is to buy 50 licences for Logic Pro and install onto 50 macs using Profile Manager. Is this doable?? I cant can't seem to get a straight answer anywhere! TIA!
