It's the same most places now and comes with a game for a tenner more.

My son has been saving for one and after christmas will have enough at this price, so I nipped into Game yesterday and picked one up.

Somebody is really going to love Santa on Xmas day!

This reminds me of when I bought my Xbox360 with Forza Motorsport 3 and an extra controller. The game and the controller arrived... but the console itself took about a week longer. Quite annoying to have the game and controller in my hand, but no way to play. SAD!

Kids today! No imagination!

MY son wants a PS5 so I've been looking at those deals but have been tempted to wait until the new version arrives. I'm sure it will arrive the week after Black Friday. Should I wait of buy a BF deal original version?

He's not getting it till boxing day. Sibling present politics and all that, there's no amount of explaining "be he bought that himself" that doesn't make a little sister feel left out if there's a £360 console in his pile and not hers! It's currently at the bottom of my wardrobe driving me nuts because there's a list of games I want to play!

Surely you have to test it? Imagine the disappointment if he opens it to find it is faulty!

Depending on how patient Dave's son is, it'd genuinely be a good idea to set it up a few days before. It took hours to update the Xbox and then more hours to download the first game and its updates before anything got played on ours.

Oh balls, i just ordered a pixel 7a last night! Granted there's bugger all in it between the two phones, but that 7 is now £80 cheaper than the 7a that's on offer on the google store...and in typical fashion, too late to cancel, so i'd have to send the bugger back. Eurrrgghhhhh....do i bother?

EDIT: oh nevermind, it's probably sold out already at that price, it's only on the white model and delivery and collection unavailable.

EDIT2: the 256gb model still has stock, but that's only £20 cheaper (after the google store cashback from lloyds) than the 7a i bought, sod that don't think it's worth the faff

Giffgaff has had the 7a cheaper than google's black friday deal for about 4 months now

No good to me unfortunately, have to take a contract with a phone from them, and they use o2 which is atrocious where i live.

Checked on camelcamelcamel for price history, couldn't find the phone outright for cheaper anywhere else, but like i say, if you have to get a contract with it any deal that was cheaper isn't much use as i have to be on EE where i am, pretty much every other network is crap here.

Think you just need to pay £10 for 1 month then that's it

True but then it's cost me £359 for the handset with extra faff, compared to £368 (after the lloyds cashback offer) i've got to cancel it plus im doing the tradein via google, i'd have to go to CEX or something otherwise. I'd be saving myself £9 but with a lot of extra steps :D

Whilst he's not super patient, he can just about bear waiting for games to download.

I've recently switched to 500Mb BT broadband from Virgin, so things download SUPER quickly at the moment :D

I would still get him out of the house a few days before and set it up. So it can get its dashboard updates and install some games. Sea of Thieves would be my recommendation. There is no telling what the load on Xbox Live might be on Christmas day. While everybody else is struggling to get updates he could be playing.

I need some new wireless earbuds as mine gave up the ghost. I'm currently torn between the Google Pixel Buds Pro for £129 or the Sony WF-C700N for £75. My use case is mostly going to be gym or wearing in work during the school holidays.

I'm also after a <=42" TV for my little gaming room. I have a LG OLED in my living room that I've used for gaming on before and it's spoiled me. Does anyone have any recommendations for a TV that will still look good for gaming, whether that's hooking up my PC (RTX 3080) or a PS5/Switch/Steam Deck?

I'm keeping my Pixel 4a as it has free google photos uploading, so just rsync all the photos I take to it

I'm looking for a new phone (well if I'm honest I'm not really, I'm being forced into it due to lack of app support)...

Still on the hand-me-down iPhone 5s from the OH! Thing is, I'm just not a massive phone user and I know it seems like everybody is fine paying £500-£1000 for a phone, but I guess I'm too old to think that's OK (honestly even £300 makes me shudder).

Sadly for a techie, I'm just not a gadet/gizmo guy and certainly not bothered about the latest, greatest, new & shiny...

I only ever take the odd photo of my Greyhounds, answer the occasional Whatsapp from the OH or text from my parents, but given the rarity of upgrading my phone I just think about the support for the OS and the one or two other apps that I might use (like banking) and I just don't want to have to pay out £ every couple of years because all of a sudden nothing works on it anymore.

I don't know anything about the Google phone/tablet OS and its lifecycles/app support, and the only issue I have with a cheap phone is that we got lumbered with 30 no-name Chinese tablets a few years ago from Amazon (BM decision with no input from myself) and within a year found that they couldn't be upgraded, new apps didn't work and the manufacturer didn't support them so no new firmware, chipset out-of-date etc..

Posted

Forgive my ignorance, but I presume 'active support' means the latest OS updates (and therefore that app developers will continue to support it).

Still, doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence, ending in less than 2 years (then it's pot luck or another new phone?)!

I guess I've been spoilt with an iPhone, but the Google Play Store feels a bit like the Wild West (or a box of chocolates)...

I'm after a new iphone contract. 24 month, around £30pm with as little upfront as possible.

Upgrading from an 11 so a 14/15 would be ideal. Looks like IDmobile have the best deal so far with a 128gb 14 at £29.99/mo and £9.99 up front. Nothing in a 15 comes close yet.

Apple do the phone only at £33 per month for iPhone 15. Then I got a cheap sim - plenty of offers around right now. Cheap sim is ok - but I’ve halved the cost of my O2 iPhone + contract.
