Discovery1031 Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Hi, Is anyone else having issues printing from iPads to Papercut Mobility Print since updating to IOS 17? Everything looks fine until you release the job on a printer and it will come out as a blank page. Tested this on a older iPad that hasn't been updated and it works fine. Thanks
RLR Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Not much help but I just tested this on my work iphone which I've updated to ios 17 and seems to be okay.
PaperCutterBrenda Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 Hi there Discovery1031, PaperCutter Brenda here. Sadly, yes this is a thing. We've added a known issue on our website for it: https://papercut.com/support/known-issues/?id=MOB-2977#mobility I hope that helps!
RLR Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Hi there Discovery1031, PaperCutter Brenda here. Sadly, yes this is a thing. We've added a known issue on our website for it: https://papercut.com/support/known-issues/?id=MOB-2977#mobility I hope that helps! The known issue says it can't find the printer but Ops post suggests they can send things to the printer and release it but nothing happens.
k-strider Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 We are also seeing issues with iOS 17 we had to turn of DNS and go back to mDNS but as the secondary server was in the corect subnet for iPads that was fine. but we are seeing issues where you goto select printer and it goes back without letting you choose one. Some are still printing fine its strange
denzal2k4 Posted October 4, 2023 Posted October 4, 2023 No printers showing here on IOS 17 devices, ios 16 are fine, had been working fairly flawlessly till then. Hopefully its resolved soon, I have people chasing me for it to be fixed.
denzal2k4 Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 As an update the known host feature works for us, so we have now moved to that, you do need to deploy the profile for iPads though, Chromebooks picked it up straight away. 1
EduCLS Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 I want to thank Denzal2k4 for the snippet of "you do need to deploy the profile for iPads though", because that was the missing link for me. Downloaded the profile, pushed it out via JAMF and boom! a headache resolved. THANK YOU so much!!! (I joined just to thank you) :-) 1
denzal2k4 Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 You're welcome, finally I helped someone yay! It was this thread that put me on the right path to switch methods. 1
denzal2k4 Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 For anyone else having issues with printing photos from iPads coming out blank, I've seen there is a known issue: https://papercut.com/support/known-issues/?id=MOB-2978#mobility iOS 17 strikes again! 1
k-strider Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 I want to thank Denzal2k4 for the snippet of "you do need to deploy the profile for iPads though", because that was the missing link for me. Downloaded the profile, pushed it out via JAMF and boom! a headache resolved. THANK YOU so much!!! (I joined just to thank you) :-) What is the Profile mentioned here? we still havent got printing working on iOS17 at all we use JAMF too we turned of DNS and went back to mDNS so they can see the printers but when they select them it just unselects its self and they can't print at all when they select the printer it should ask them for their credentials but it doesn't iOS16 is still fine.
denzal2k4 Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 On Mobility Print change Discovery option to known host and give it the IP of the print server/ Papercut server, then at the bottom of that page is a bit that says Apple iOS Client setup click that download the file, then on Jamf create a profile, upload custom profile and point it to downloaded file from earlier, then assign the profile to your devices. All works well, except now photo printing doesn't work because of another known issue on Papercut! 1
nick1313 Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 FYI: As a workaround for the image not printing issue, have them insert the image into a google doc or something and then print that document. I just did that with one of mine and the image printed.
sparker1977 Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 (edited) Yes we are getting a similar problem we are on iOS 17. Also the prints (when they come out) are in B&W even though colour is selected. Old iPads are fine just not newer ones. Had Konica remote in and look at settings but no issue there so must be iOS Edited November 21, 2023 by sparker1977
sparker1977 Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Hi, You mention the known host feature which needs to be deployed to the iPads. Our iPads can see the printer but its just printing in either b&W or a blank page. Is the host feature a fix for that also or just for discovering printers? Thanks

k-strider Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 The number of iOS17 issues are racking up https://www.papercut.com/support/known-issues/#mobility its causing us major pains too - at the start of the issues we spent most breaks and lunchtimes getting kids to share there work with us so we could print it for them
robintech Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 Seem to be getting this problem now, not sure why it was delayed as we have the latest Papercut or maybe people didn't report it.
Ausy Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 IOS 17.2 is available for download now, does anyone know if this fixed things. I cant test till next week.

Had Konica remote in and look at settings but no issue there so must be iOS do you have the right driver on the mobility server? ive made the mistake of installing the 450i driver instead of the c450i (C=COLOUR)
bknaggs Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 IOS 17.2 is available for download now, does anyone know if this fixed things. I cant test till next week. I only got my first report of a problem printing from an iPad today and my iPad running iPadOS 17.2 couldn't print a picture directly from Photos but could print an email from Outlook. Printing the image as a PDF worked. Interestingly I can print pictures directly to my office printer but had problems with a printer in a different part of the school. Both are HPs. We're not using anything apart from Jamf to assign printers to the iPads.
sparker1977 Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 Yes checked the driver is the correct one thanks, definitely sounds like an iOS issue. Never had an issue before updating the iPads to 17
GriffTech Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Anyone know if this was resolved in the end?
AGA Posted January 31, 2024 Posted January 31, 2024 Unfortunately we're still seeing this issue on iPadOS 17.3, with any file type (jpg, png, heif) when printed from the Photos app. Running latest Papercut Mobility update v.1.0.3668, and latest Canon firmware and UFR II drivers. Printing from MS Word app etc on the iPads works no problem. That's our only real workaround at the moment as well.
lucass1868 Posted February 8, 2024 Posted February 8, 2024 This also seems to be a problem when printing from the Google Photos app. Looking at the iPadOS release notes there's no indication of Apple having this on their fix list yet.
