Copy data keeping ALL security permissions etc...
Ausy replied to Martstone's topic in Windows Server 2016
This has worked for me on a recent move but do test it. Someone here may be able to tweak it. robocopy \\Old-Server\Share \\New-Server\Share /COPYALL /E /LOG:C:\copylog1.txt /XD “RECYCLER” “Recycled” “System Volume Information” /XF “desktop.ini” /NP /TEE You can use server IP addresses instead of server names. -
For a Lab why not just set up a server to do the routing on your Hyper-V Host. Here is a simple video.

Our SIMS server was not visualised and running on 6 year old hardware (don't ask), so two weeks ago I p2vd it then did an in place upgrade from 2012 to 2016 followed by an in place upgrade SQL to 2016. No problems at all now running as a VM.

From memory 2008 server winsxs folder grows and grows. You could release some space as described in my post here http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-server-2008-r2/134798-winsxs-folder-clogging-c.html#post1155164 EaseUS partition manager will also sort this. It allows you to shrink the partition next to C then move it to the left and extend C. Its not expensive for 1 server. Failing that use imaging software like Acronis and restore to larger disks and partitions. You need a reliable backup before using EaseUS or Acronis but I have used EaseUS a couple of times without issue.

Smoothwall being difficult re renewal
Ausy replied to synaesthesia's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
How did you get it resolved, they are doing this to two of my schools? -
Every time I think about going to 10 I see topics like this. Shame on you Microsoft!!

If it was previously stained by water you would need to seal it as the old stain will come right through emulsion. You can buy a fancy product from B&Q or just use gloss paint. Wait for it to dry and then emulsion over it. Only do this if your sure its not still damp or eventually it will come through again.

Just overwrite the files in your HAP installation with the new ones from the patch.

Smoothwall AD DNS - Not resolving Hostnames
Ausy replied to superaz300's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Set System DNS resolver to use the system internal DNS server. Set the DNS forwarders to google's DNS servers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Set the Conditional DNS forwarders to your AD DNS server or servers. -
Smoothwall New Setup - Advice Needed
Ausy replied to superaz300's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
1. You have to export the certificate. Guardian - Under HTTP Inspection -Settings. Export the certificate. Create a GPO. Computer Configuration - Policies - Windows Settings - Security Settings - Public Key Policies - Trusted Root Certification Authorities. Import the certificate. Place the GPO at the top level with the default domain policy. 2. Services - Directories. Add new directory, choose Active Directory and follow the wizard. You must map Active Directory groups to the Smoothwall groups. Use the help menu for more details.- 3 replies

Don't have the exact printer but have 9303 and 7556 which is probably very similar. Log into the printer webpage Click on the scan tab. Create New Template. Call it ScoolScans or whatever you want. Friendly Name School Scans Under Add destination to template - Protocol should be SMB - Put the IP address of the sever where the share is located (leave port 445 if its server 2012 or 139 if its 2008) Share - should be just the shared folder name only! Don't need Document path Login credentials - Login Name DOMAIN\User then the password. (Important you have already set up the shared folder full access for the user you going to use!!) (you can create a user just for this like xerox or something) When you go to the printer and press workflow scanning the option School Scans should be there. Load paper feed press Go. This should get you going then you can tweak things like Document saved filename, confirmation sheet, turn off job log etc etc after you know it works - hopefully.

Google Chrome Enterprise GPO - Home Page URL Not Working
Ausy replied to FN-GM's topic in Enterprise Software
Have you tried just using the ADM and not ADMX. Its what I am using and everything is working ok. -
You will probably have to build a driver that asks for the code. Ricoh used to do a driver editor. I think they replaced it with this. http://support.ricoh.com/html_gen/util/PDP/PDP.html
