Good morning,

Happy Friday Everyone! The RM User Group museum are once again reaching out to ask for something that may well be hidden in them dark store cupboards. ;) We are wondering if any early CC4 schools, have kept their installation media for CC4 Service Release 1 and 2? This is something we are having great difficulty obtaining, which even RM directly don't have these anymore.

Service Release 1 consisted of:

CC4 Service Release 1 Forest Root CD

CC4 Service Release 1 Additional Server CD

CC4 Service Release 1 Station Build Update DVD 1

CC4 Service Release 1 Station Build Update DVD 2

Service Release 2 consisted of:

CC4 Service Release 2 Forest Root CD

CC4 Service Release 2 Replica and Member Servers CD

CC4 Service Release 2 Computer Build Update DVD 1

CC4 Service Release 2 Computer Build Update DVD 2

We would be more than grateful if anyone still has these and could donate us a digital copy for our museum. RM have been very kind in donating software updates and what they could grab from their archive, however some of the products where CD/DVD only, and the only ones that still exist are potentially still in store cupboards!

Best regards

James

I forgot to mention on this post, its quite possible they are stored in what was the "CC4 Network Binder", the instructions stated to store these in a safe place such as the Network Binder.

I have the memories of upgrading our CC3 network to CC4 back when it first came out and everything that came afterwards.. i'll pay you to take those from me!

Most (perhaps all, or anything meaningful) of our remaining CC4 relics I removed from my working quarters in the summer, having held on to them for no apparent reason over the years!

We are lucky enough to have been donated the CC3 to CC4 Upgrade Discs (Just missing the Additional Server and Post Install CD), so we got the full experience of running the upgrade! This is why we are looking for SR1 and SR2 to remove many of the bugs in early CC4. That's a shame about clearing out, although you did hold on to them for some time.

Ah that is a shame, it seems everyone has recently cleared out these CDs. We actually do have the Network Operations and Reference Manual, as well as several manuals for RM Tutor but thank you very much for the offer, much appreciated.

I have heard so many stories of early CC4, and how unstable the product was. CC4 seemed more functional once SR2 was released, but I am lucky I never touched CC4 in the early days on a live network.

Sadly we ditched all our stuff a while back. We intentionally waited a year after CC4 was released before migrating and it definitely paid off. CC4 was in principle a good product but it was released too early (RM admitted as much afterwards) and their original migration process was flawed in my opinion. The only option they offered was in place upgrade of CC3 servers. We got new CC4 servers and migrated our data and users across. More pain initially but a cleaner system and it paid off.

I've been through the filing cabinet and under a collection of Microsoft license disks have a cardboard RM Binder containing

CC4 Service Release 2 DVD 1 and DVD 2

CC4 Service Release 2 Forest Root CD

CC4 Service Release 2 Replica and Member Servers CD + a self burnt CC4 SR2 for Additional Servers CD

Planning my SR2 Install sheet

Getting Started with CC4 Poster

Also,

CC3 to CC4 Terminal Server CD

CC3 to CC4 Post-Install CD

CC3 to CC4 Additional Servers CD

CC3 to CC4 Upgrade DVD 1 and DVD 2

There's a CD of RM Management Extensions for MS Exchange 2003 if its of interest, can't find any SR1 DVDs though.

Thanks

Hi Luke,

This is amazing! Could I get an image of these discs using something like PowerISO? We have the CC3 to CC4 Upgrade Discs, except the Additional Server and Post Install CD. I am so glad someone has Service Release 2, at least that is 1 off the list, just need to find SR1 now.

Feel free to PM me.

Thank you so much!

James

Thread Update

Luke has kindly confirmed above he has Service Release 2, so we are just needing Service Release 1 now.

Thank you everyone for your help!

I might have this. I was sorting a cupboard this week and found some old RM CC4 stuff. I'm not back till Wednesday now, so I can let you know. @rmusergroup.

We have managed to find the Service Release 2 Forest Root CD, but only 1 CD out of the 4 included in SR2. I know its a long shot but if anyone does have the SR1 / SR2 media, it would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards

James

Just bumping this thread to see if anyone else has these CD's or in fact any for CC4? Hoping someone is having a clear out this half term :D

It's possible I have some old copies of the media stored somewhere from when my employer used to work closely with RM, I'll have a look but please remind me in a week or two if I haven't got back to you.
