  1. I think points 2 and 3 are interchangeable as once the invite has been sent the student appears in the Options permissions area so you may be able to select the permissions for the students before the student finishes setting up their account.
  2. Hi Gareth In the SIMS Product Admin webpage (admin.sims.co.uk) under Options > Permissions does the student have a tick in the Student column? Thanks Luke

  4. Hi Cathy We've applied to pilot the Next Gen functionality but as a secondary school only have access to the Student Record info. We haven't considered using SIMS Connected and are happy to continue to host the DB. From my understanding as long as you have a three year contract with ESS the Next Gen functionality is included in the price. Next Gen will write back to a local database - you will need to install and setup a couple of extra packages in Sims Services Manager to connect services to get it working - ESS will send a guide to work through to get it setup. You may also need to check / adjust your DPIA for SIMS. Hope that helps Luke
  5. This is on the ESS SIMS blog from 17th December 'Back at base we are all very excited to see new development teams being created. In the first part of 2022 we will start to see customers using our new hosted SIMS7 platform ‘SIMS Connected’ where you can easily, quickly and reliably use a web browser from any computer or device to access SIMS7. This is a perfect solution where schools want to remove the need for locally installed applications and on-premise databases, but want to continue to use the most developed and feature rich MIS in the market. Our NextGen slices will also start to be released, firstly for take register and MAT reporting, but we are already working on the next two slices in the Learner Record and Assessment with even more plans through 2022.' I've registered an interest in the project and highlighted the register taking as an area of interest but haven't heard anything back yet!
  6. Sorry, I'd thought you'd said the teacher had left but you wanted to use their name on this report. Without going into Nova T6 you could create a new aspect called Class Teacher (or similar) and have it as a comment type. Add this aspect to the template marksheet and enter the name of the teacher as you want it to appear in the individual report. You can then amend the individual report and instead of selecting Class Teacher you could point to the Result of the Class Teacher aspect you have created.
  7. What happens if you change the 'effective date' of the report in section 2: Generate, to a date before the teacher left?
  8. If the contact already has the InTouch Communication box ticked you can set Individual Assessment Reports to go to all in touch communicatees as follows Tools - InTouch - Message Types Defaults Setup Search for Individual Assessment Report Message Then, in Section 2, select All InTouch Communicatees from the dropdown Hope that helps
  9. Are there any differences between the version we have in the UK compared to the version available in the US, i.e. do we have less functionality or is it likely to be the same globally?
  10. We use schoolbooking.com with a two week timetable. You do have to setup the calendar at the start of each year and highlight which week is which but it works well. Using the Zinet client to sync with SIMS it checks for room changes over night and advises if any changes made in SIMS have caused room clashes. You can also manually run the sync utility so the cover supervisor can make room changes and then run the sync tool to upload the newest timetable changes to the system.
  11. Which version of Smart Notebook / Office are you running? We have Smart Notebook 11.4 here and had the same issue with PowerPoint and Office 2016. We ended up loading an older version of Office on to a machine and using that to convert files between the two. Fortunately we only have a couple of staff using Smart Notebook so can convert the files as they need them.
  12. Would RM Buzz be worth looking at? No experience of it myself but they were introducing it at their last round of technical seminars and it is currently specifically for Chrome books.
  13. We use schoolbooking. Also does most of items on your list and the pricing is reasonable.
  14. We had a similar problem with this but found that in the User Policies - System - Prevent Access to the command prompt (leave tick in here) and then expand the option and change the setting for Disable the command prompt script processing also? to No. Hope that helps.
  15. Hi, I may not have a solution for you but I have tried accessing youtube for education at my school and found the following. If we say that the account was MySchool and the students tried to access the site http://www.youtube.com/myschool without using the capitalisation they get sent to youtube.com/education. If they typed it in with the full capitalisation i.e. http://www.youtube.com/MySchool they land on the correct page and, by clicking on videos they can see the playlists I have created. Hope that helps
