Adobe Creative Cloud In School

Hi folks I just found out our school buy 15 Creative Cloud Licenses every year and that costs us £6,012 ex VAT.

 

Does that not seem bonkers considering most kids just use Photoshop.

 

To be fair Photography class said they preferred the older Adobe Photoshop Elements which I think you can still get.

But I do get having Adobe and all it's packages is always preferred and other adobe programmes might be used by different department's but worth a look.

Definitely wrong. We pay £2000 for 80 shared device license

Wow shocked at the answers and was shocked at the cost the school is paying.

 

We don't currently have a reseller and in our Adobe Admin it shows VIP as the service and apparently that's because the licenses were provided by a reseller at the time.

 

The firm that we used to turn to have gone bust and they bought the licenses off GreyMatter looking at it.

 

My next renewal is May but if anyone can give me a good supplier it would be appreciated as I also want to purchase some MS licenses from said supplier.

 

If I remember correct the software is installed on the shared laptop as an admin and then students log on and use an account that we have associated with that laptop i.e. AdobeICT1, AdobeICT2.

Sounds like you got ripped by your last reseller. Maybe time to change resellers!!

If you are a school, you can buy through LGfL, even if you're not a customer of any of their services. For shared device licenses, the minimum amount you can buy in bulk is 25 iirc. I'm it was something weird like it worked out cheaper for us to buy 25 shared licenses than 10 user licenses.

 

You can also use this page to filter down appropriate UK resellers of Adobe: https://adobedealreg.secure.force.com/PartnerSearch?lang=en. At a quick glance, there are some on there I recognise and have used for other services, such as; VeryPC, AMC, Jigaw, Softcat, European Electronique, CBC and Adept.

Some people have tried photopea and while it is very good the kids/teachers go back to Photoshop every time. I personally love it as its free as a bird. Even had them try GIMP for a while but found kids just started calling each other gimps and taking the shine off the lesson

Named ones go from 300+ (£4.21~ at Adobe direct pricing rather than reseller)

Devices 25+ (£21.12~ at Adobe direct pricing rather than reseller)

 

So even working off those figures "before reseller discounts", you could buy 25 device licenses for £528 a year saving a whopping £5k+ (https://www.adobe.com/uk/education/schools.html right at the bottom of the page)

I mentioned that to the Art and Photography department that we could get that Express version free but they were adamant that it was crap and not as intuitive as you would think. Haven't tried it myself and I haven't done Photoshop since about 2002 after attending some night school courses on it when I thought it would be cool to be a graphic designer . Oh how life changed.

Like you say Steve reading that its £528 for 25seats on the "Classroom License" working out way cheaper than what they are paying. Wonder if this license allows you to install on the device as Admin and then it just works for all logons. I noticed some require Azure and the ability to link with AD.
