A newscaster got very confused yesterday, "The Prince of Wales, sorry the King, no the Prince of Wales, Prince William spoke to the First Minister for Wales today" It will take a while for the new titles to become normal.

 

As my girlfreind pointed out to me yesterday, we'll all be getting the words for the national anthem wrong for a bit now.

It was poignant watching Charles sign the Proclamation of Accession - he wrote Charles as usual, paused, then remembered he needed to put "R" at the end of it. He is, after all, a son mourning his mother.

I didn't know Scotland had a different design for their post boxes!

 

In just a short space of time there will be 4 different passport designs.

1. Red with "European Union" on the front (they still issued these in 2020)
   
2. Red without "European Union" on the front
   
3. Blue with the "Her Majesty" on the inside
   
4. Blue with the "His Majesty" on the inside

Watched something from a church on tv with my parents yesterday and it sounded like the congregation were getting muddled too. We all kept hearing either King or Queen.... Not sure if that's one of those weird 'What do you hear' type things.

The time period in which the Queen reigned was the Elizabethan period. Before that, Georgian. Edwardian, Victorian etc. what will this era be called? ‘Charlsian’ sounds a bit stupid…

I can't remember where I read it but Carolean is based on the Latin version of Charles, Carolus.

The queue for the “lying in state” is currently almost 3 miles long and the tail end is now between London Bridge and Tower Bridge

While thousands of members of the public stand in line for up to 30 hours in order to pay their respects to the late monarch at Westminster Hall, politicians are able to gain immediate access by showing their parliamentary security pass.

 

They are also entitled to four timed-entry tickets for family and friends.

 

The Queen's coffin arrived at Westminster on Wednesday and will remain lying in state until her funeral on Monday.

You know I always felt bad pushing in front of the kids during lunch break (pupils have to queue up but staff can go straight to the front). Supposed to lead by example and all that. Don't think the MP's mind too much though.
