Windows Desktop wallpaper Staff & Pupils

I was wondering if some of you might be willing to share your Desktop backgrounds for Staff and Pupils, just trying to get some inspirational ideas (*Laughs*)

Thing is you would possibly have to redact the school name which on most might be the main focal point...?

 

Our pupil one is very boring, just a block colour with the logo in the bottom right hand corner. That's the only one I control, I don't mandate the teachers and office staff - they can do what they want...

We just have a plain dark blue image with our school logo in the middle of the screen. I made a fancy wallpaper a few months back, however users with lots of files hated it as they couldn't read the file names properly. Not doing that again!

I have the school roundel on a black background pushed out by the same GPO used for all user settings and another variation of the roundel for the logon screen also used to apply all the computer settings. This way I can see instantly if the computer and or user is missing any of the settings applied by GPO's which in my case is just about everything.

 

I do feel like changing the background to incorporate the message "Press the WIN key + P to duplicate to the touchscreen"

We have 2 backgrounds. A blue one with the school name and 'staff network' in large text and a green one with school name and 'student network' in large text. Each one applied based on user log in GPO. In theory if I ever see a student using a computer with the blue background then they are using a teacher log in. its a legacy policy from when there were a couple of dozen computers in the school. In the run up to Christmas we swap it out for a non religious, snowy, seasons greetings, winter wonderland type scene.

[ChromeOS] With the Department based model we currently have, we have a login screen background based on each department. We don't limit staff and students backgrounds currently, they can have whatever they like. We limit them in so many different areas when it comes to personalising thing, we give them some freedom with their desktop wallpaper.

Windows:

For students it's the school badge on a typically 'Windows' blue background. We use BGInfo to add the username and computer name to the upper right corner. Occasionally we get asked to replace the school badge with a poster for the next musical, charity event, etc. but always on that blue background to give the same overall impression of it being a student desktop.

For staff we let them pick their own wallpaper, but we still use BGInfo to add username and computer name.

The login screen background is a stylised, tilted, wireframe full bleed version of the school logo in red and white. Allows you to instantly spot signed-in vs locked/signed-out. I'm also totally sick of that standard beach image.

 

ChromeOS:

Login wallpaper is the same stylised, full-bleed image that we use for the Windows login screen. Staff and students can pick their own wallpaper.

Blue background for staff, green for students, so that you can see at a glance who's on what. School logo "tastefully" in the centre of both. That's on our Windows network and our Google estate.

 

I quite liked the idea of having the logo as a badge top right of the desktop, where it wouldn't clash with anything else, but I found that didn't work with all the different resolutions we had around the school.

Yeah, we have a two week cycle. It's a VB script that pulls the week no based on the week beginning date. One of the team made a excel macro to update the case array.

i have made my own wallpaper for a school that doesn't exist in google slides (happy to share the sample with you via DMs) the purpose of this was to try and make my software testing machine look more "school like" i even have a Profile image bitmap if you like (however its sized to work on windows XP)

 

basically it consists of the schools crest, the name, 3 inspirational words/motto and in the top corner the year of the user account in comic sans (in my case that's "year 8")

 

i am happy to answer any questions you have in DMs

I don't have a copy of it any more but when I had to do that, I did the following:

 

Found one of the background pictures built into Windows and loaded it into Photoshop. It had flowers I think

Converted it to mono

Put a massive gaussian blur on it

Changed the colour of it to match the school colours, there was one for each school in the MAT.

Put the school crest in the top left corner

I then applied the results as the computer's wallpaper

When the user logged on, the computer information was put on the top right corner of the screen with a BGINFO-like PowerShell script.

Wondering how you set custom user profile pictures?

There are various methods. The ‘simplest’ I can think of is to attach a picture to the user’s profile in AD, synchronise that to Azure and make sure that the PCs are Azure AD joined. When the PCs are logged on, they’ll automatically get the user profile picture.

 

There are other methods too, like resource hacking

If you mean the local windows one you can just change the default profile pic and force everyone to use it via GPO
