Recommendations: Laptops for admin/teachers

I'm looking for some recommendations for new laptops for staff in the £4 to £500 range.

 

Min Requirements are:

8GB Ram

256GB SSD

Intel Core i5+

USB C Charging

USB C Docking Support

TPM

 

I was looking at the Lenovo E14 but this is too pricey for what they're looking to spend.

 

Any recommendations?

I think you will need £600ish for USB-C machines unless refurbished from Dell

We have HP Probook g6's everything you're after and decent price

We put surface pros out to teachers, acrobat pro and the stylus work great for marking work submitted by PDF. They're pricey though that's the downfall. Lenovo/Dell make some good tablets at reasonable prices with the same capabilities

Unless you were buying in the large qty.. say around 300-400 units, then I don't think your spec is possible for around that price.

Maybe for 5-600.

Have you checked out the RM Store? We buy 15" HP ProBook 450 G8's from here which seems to fit most of your specifications for £540:

 

 

 

From memory you must apply for the Microsoft Shape the Future discount but it was a fairly simple process...

We got quotes recently, and the Acer TravelMate P2 and Probook 440 G8 come in at the tail end of your price. We got the quotes via the CPC portal.

We recently purchased some Acer TravelMate P2's but the build quality I found to be quite poor and within week 3 had to send 2 back for faulty SSD's!

 

Do you know if they work with USB C Docks from Lenovo?

This is about £30 more than last years model the G7. but it's way better about 40% more powerful on the CPU and it's smaller!

I would prefer HP due to better support, business focused rather than consumer and in my opinion better build quality. Can anyone think of any other reasons I can put in my argument towards HP?

Depends on your budget, but with HP we have NBD warranty and they have been flawless the times we've needed to call them out to replace parts.

For me it's 'Does this device come with an SCCM driver pack for the OS I'm installing?' if it doesn't, I won't buy it. Ain't nobody got time to be scrabbling around the internet looking for drivers.

 

As for the original question - HP Spectre x360 2019 refurbs is what we've been buying SLT and middle leaders. Teachers have been getting refurb 2019 HP Probooks with whatever spec we can get at the time. My other site have gone for leasing direct with Dell and I have no control over what model they get, it just has to be an i5 with 8gb ram and a 256gb nvme ready for Windows 11.
