Just reinstall on my old Wins 11 laptop, connect to school wifi . This was bought from currys but got home version now the joy of upgrading to pro

Also - Build in Teams client in Windows 11. You can't sign into it with an organisational account. I mean, WTF? Separate versions for home and work accounts. Why?

I make sure my workstation is running as close to the curriculum builds as possible. To help spot issues early or replicate issues reported.

Yep. This is the first screen on the OOBE for the home edition when you're not connected to the internet. You can't get any further.

 

I guess it makes sense really. You'll only likely be installing W11 via windows update, but I'd still hope for an offline install.

I have been running Windows 11 build on my totally unsupported 4th gen i5 Lenovo E73 for over a month now. Windows Updates are tricky as I have to manually install them but it works! Did image one of our new 8th gen Intel laptops we got from @ICTDirect_Dave in the summer with the release build in MDT without issue today. Fun experiments are encouraged in my role!

I upgraded my machine to it today, seems to be working fine. That's as far as it's going though, we have far too many unsupported devices

Is there a standalone compatibility checker for Win 11? I've got many intel series 2 running the latest Win 10 that are unsupported but have been trouble free. Also have a few Intel-Nehalem based Xeons that have been equally trouble free on Win 10.

There is, it gave me the option to download it when I tried windows update which then told me my laptop was incompatible.

 

I'm sure a Google will find it, if not I'll link it tomorrow evening when I turn my laptop on again.

Compatible I’ve got some

Dells that should be able to run it nicely with an ssd and that should do it.

 

I think they’ve done a good job on windows 11 speaking from the heart.

If you have a tpm to at least 1.2 and secure boot enabled, you should be able to install pro with the iso providing your cpu meets the clock speed and core requirements, regardless of its age.

The T430 I trialled yesterday failed the check because Secure Boot wasn't enabled. Once I changed that it sailed through setup.

Anyone using MS account login, btw? Just for a laugh have loaded W11 on an HP x360 (1.6 Ghz Pentium). Was wondering if it was worth using my MS account - any advantages/disadvatages?

I've recycled an SCCM task sequence and subbed a win 11 install.wim in in place of a windows 10 one... I've added windows 11 to the products and it's getting cumulative updates from WSUS where it recieved a 'download error' from checking online.

So where are people getting the keys from if doing a clean install? Can't see W11 on VLSC in either keys or as a download.

I've done 2 clean installs and 3 upgrades. The clean installs appear to have just picked up KMS like the upgrades as they says they are activated using your organisations activation service.

I must have done something wrong! It auto installed a Home edition. Just used a W10 MAK and it seemed to work - unless it's going to revert to W10 after the restart!

 

Update: Nope, refused to do it that way. Will try a "Pro" key.

 

It did pick up updates from MS though.

The clean installs were done using an install.wim subbed into a windows 10 SCCM task sequence and imported using the education version index.
