It's interesting that it's only Lana Wachowski directing it instead of both Lana and Lilly. Apparently Lilly said that it felt like going backwards.

Been looking forward to this for a long time and assuming it would be good as Keanu wouldn't do it if he felt it wasn't. Then I watched the latest Bill & Ted movie which completely destroyed that theory!

I hope to god this isn't just a rehash like we had with the Star Wars sequels.....

Enjoyed the entire Matrix even the sequels.. okay minus the whole architect concept.

Well, you see... There is a level of that inherently baked into the Matrix, as Neo was the sixth incarnation of "The One" in The Matrix's sixth reboot.

However, they're clearly going along the line here that both Neo and Trinity's bodies were kept by the robots, and the robots are somehow bringing these virtual copies of the originals back to life for a purpose.

I mean look at the visual look of The Matrix Resurrections in the trailer. The colours and lighting are skewing far more to the visual look of the seventh reboot that we see Sati and The Oracle observing it at the end of Revolutions. It clearly isn't going to be a clean simple rehash, and it's going to be a story about the seventh reboot descending into a new war - but not necessarily with the robots and humans on opposite sides from what I can see.

Also, surely Sati is the character being played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas? I'm not sure Yayha-Abdul Mateen II is playing Morpehus as we expect it though. I think we'll get Fishburne, but they're keeping him quite secret.

Lana Wachowski, David Mitchell (Cloud Atlas not Peep Show) and Aleksander Hemon have wrote this story and screenplay. None of them are the "Let's just do a new retelling" type, at all.

Anyone watched it?

I did. First half an hour was very "What the hell is going on here?!" The rest answered that and I enjoyed it.

The absolute last thing I was going to do over Christmas was hit a cinema, with the infection rate where it is.

So no. I will be waiting till it's available at home, which will probably be early February.

It was deserted. There was me, my wife and kids, and four other people in the entire screen. Lobby had about a dozen people in it. Wouldn't have gone if it was busy.
