Phone systems [What do you use, and how do you rate it]

Hi all, we are at the crossroads of needing to replace our ageing PBX.

Considering Splicecom, Mitel and 8by8 at the moment.

 

Would you be so kind to let me know the system you use, and how you rate it please?

FreePBX, 99% of time I forget there's even a VM running the phone system. Also cost £0 and could reuse existing IP phones.

We use Horizon cloud PBX with Polycom handsets (all provided by a local supplier). Installation was pretty smooth, system has worked fine ever since and support (when we've called them) have been great. Nothing to complain about.

Before that we used Exponential-e's cloud PBX (with Polycom phones again). Nothing wrong with the service, support was alright (although current provider is better), but personally I find the Horizon management interface easier to navigate and much better documented.

3CX. Very happy. Only niggle at the moment is getting phones to auto-provision across VLANs but I'm pretty sure that is my failing rather than the systems and manually provisioning isn't that arduous. Don't touch it for months on end but simple enough that I can do everything I need when I come back to it.

Alcatel Lucent here, Good system with a mix of digtal and voip phones

We're finding more schools are looking at and liking 3CX.

 

Not surprising as we've used it in-house ourselves for over 10 years and had very little, if any problems.

We use Freebpx, took a bit of setting up initially but now just runs quietly in the background. If I were to do it again now I might look at 3cx but FeePBX does what we need at the moment.

 

So glad to be away from our previous digital system, we previously paid around £12k/yr in leases, support, ISDN lines & calls

 

Now the only ongoing cost is the SIP trunks, calls are all included

Have you checked the DHCP scope is consistent between the one that works for the options on the different VOIP vlans? Possibly option 66 . Are you running on top of windows or do you run as the appliance, I swapped to Windows as could not find out the folder in the appliance to set for the location but that could be my lack of knowledge.

 

Jus wondered if you had posted the issue on here as a separate thread as not wanting to bounce off topic.

3CX - love it. Easy to setup, manage and use and just works. Only gripe I have is the mobile app's reliability however can't be sure if this is down to wifi, filtering or other (with everything going on, hasn't been a particularly high priority!)

We have Option 66 setup, the server is on the server VLAN and the phones are on the phone VLAN. Got multicast setup across VLANS but it just doesn't want to work. Just one of those niggles I work at when I have some time.

Yep, that is what I have. Tried different variants. I'll have to break out Wireshark at some point I think.

Using Yeastar S100 PBX and Yeastar phones. Works well

Gamma Horizon here, no problems to report

Only thing I don't like about it is the night service option - I have to change office hours on a schedule and the interface is a little poor in that regard. Shame there wasn't just a night service button.

Absolute bargain compared to the utter crapstorm that is BT OnePhone!

We use a Matrix sarvam pbx, it’s fine, simple enough to use. But what I really like is that you can add extra hardware cards to it as you need. For example a card with extra analogue ports or a card with extra digital ports.

 

I stuck a card that holds 4 SIM cards in. Then purchases 4 cheap 30day free calls and texts SIM cards in those slots and programmed the pbx to use those cards to call out with first. So our out going call charges beyond the sin card rental is tiny. Our average monthly voip account bill including calls is €12 the only other cost is the SIM card rental.

Using 3CX for almost 3 years now with no issues using Gamma SIP trunks.

 

Fanvil 3GS and 4G phones for staff

Yealink T46G with sidecar for reception

Couple of Yealink W60P cordless phones for some areas.

 

Only time I really touch it is when I need to change the name on an extension or add new phone.

How common is it in cloud PBX offering to count internals calls towards free minutes? Surely with IP it should be totally free and unlimited?
