Hi,

 

We have used Eclipse - Microlibrarian for many years and the renewal is due next month and imo the price is quite high, what software do other schools use for their library? We want it to be cloud based but doesn't have to be all singing all dancing just to be able to sign books in and out.

Libresoft Librarian - The Smarter Way To Manage Your School Library

 

At 3 sites. Have it running on an old machine set up as a Porteus kiosk that opens to the start page and hides the navigation bar so all you can do is sign stuff in and out and use the Librarian functions (apart from printing, which has to be done elsewhere). Means the only thing the machine can be used for is library functions, so no messing around on it.

Last time I tried, MLS wanted three month's cancellation notice. They literally wouldn't accept that we didn't want to continue subscribing. By only having one month left, you may have inadvertently put yourself in the position of having to pay for another year!

 

Challenge it though.

 

We still use Eclipse, but we have it locally hosted and don't need the support.

I second Libresoft, we moved over to this from MLS and not only is it cheaper, it's much better and the staff find it much easier to use. So I would really consider this.

 

 

3s-gtech is correct on the 3 months notice, but as they say challenge it. I do have one bit of advice though, one of our schools was able to move to another version of the MLS software that was cheaper for the year. Even though they didn't use it, it allowed them to move to Libresoft, pay less to MLS and then cancel for the next year. Something to consider.

Another vote for Libresoft here, from MLS - everyone prefers it.

Back in September we moved from Oliver to Accessit, I'd recommend either of them as being pretty good and meeting your brief

+1 for Libresoft. Very user friendly and whenever I've needed support with something they are very quick to respond.

We move to Libresoft from Eclipse.

 

Librarian was always having issues. Since we moved to Libresoft we don't get any issue reported to us. Speaks volumes.

(We've not made the change ourselves yet, because our legacy version of JL is still doing the job. There's no way I'd sign a new contract with MLS in their current state though!)

We moved from MLS Eclipse.NET to Access-it.

 

We did look at Libresoft and it's a very good alternative, our Librarian just preferred Access-it.
