But honestly, who actually believes any 'figures' reported by China (about anything)? 1

It's believed to pre-date Covid. They're still working on an scientific name, but currently it is being called Greenergrass Syndrome. 1

The ZOE app has been getting her to do daily LFTs since she first tested positive. This is her 6th consecutive LFT. Daughter’s symptoms have been “really bad cold”… streaming nose, no appetite or energy One of her flat mates tested positive two days ago and is feeling rougher - getting sweats and chills and is really achey. The other flat mate has been away and elected not to return just yet for some reason! 2

As of 04:00 GMT, unvaccinated arrivals will no longer have to take tests - the rule had already been lifted for the vaccinated - and passenger locator forms have been scrapped. I was lying about the good news.

Unfortunately this is the internet and I can't tell if you're being serious or not... A lot depends on what you believe about the origins of the disease and who 'started' it and why. Also if you believe the Chinese population are largely subjugated or not and if you think the Chinese govt. are doing this 'for' their people or because it is better for other geo-political/economic reasons and for the appearance that they 'have it under control' and not wanting to appear weak (harking back to 'Sick Man of Asia' possibly). However, on the other hand a lot of Eastern countries are well-known for mask wearing in crowded places generally and being fairly obedient regarding regulations, this may well mean the spread is naturally curtailed via their normal/natural behaviours anyway. There is a well-known phenomenon amongst the population (UK is well known for it), mainly for knee-jerk reactions to things, but also to be quite contrary when it comes to 'civil liberties'... Just watching the news at times shows this inequality of behaviours as one interviewee eschews mask wearing whilst another says the restrictions aren't tough enough. The very 'average' Brit, who spends their time bemoaning the fact that they are being 'told what to do', also on their deathbed exclaims 'why didn't they tell us what to do, it was so confusing?!'... Pretty much those that believe it is safe to go out with no precautions now, because there aren't any restrictions and so it must be safe apparently to 'return to normal'... Like 'oh, I can go down the pub now, because they said I can' and those who can think for themselves and decide their own fate, are able to curtail their behaviours and can perceive not only their own risk factors, but those of others, will generally be OK. Not so much the 'oh great we don't need to do a test or fill in tiresome forms anymore, let's all go on holiday' brigade... It doesn't affect me luckily, but recently I have heard of a few cases where people have caught Covid and on further explanation reveal they 'only went for a coffee', or 'only went to the pub' or 'only went round a friends house'... The same is true at work (and I do pity the teachers on this one), nobody comes into my office, I don't go into the staff room or hall at lunch times, I don't attend meetings in someone's office and I don't go into classrooms with children in. I don't need to get a bus or train to work, work in a multi-occupancy office or be in contact with the general 'public', I don't have children and my OH is suitably averse to potential situations (and I honestly feel blessed and very lucky I am able to control these things - but not the OH obviously). The fact that someone caught it whilst in a quarantine hotel, well that only goes to prove it is not quite as under control as it is made to appear. The fact they know is all well and good, but it didn't stop it happening or spreading, so pointless really. Edited March 18, 2022 by Koldov

This is the biggest concern and factor in lag from infection to hospitalisation, with current rates it could get uncomfortable in 2-3 weeks, which coincides with LFT's being chargeable. That doesn't feel like a good mix. What I haven't recently checked is how the death rates are tracking in comparison to cases rate and hospitalisation rate growth. TBH, hospitalisation rate growth alone is a sufficient concern. The small possible positive, is the current case rate of growth seems to be slowing, but it's too early to really say if it's reliably doing so. You have to wonder how much waning immunity is part of the story. More choppy waters ahead by the looks of things.

Duranis Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Back at work after being off with Covid. Still testing positive but apparently its non-transmissible now because its been longer than 10 days. Out of the 5 of us at home only 1 of us didn't catch it. Weird mix of symptoms. My youngest (5) was really rough for a couple of days then completely bounced back and was totally fine. My middle kid (16) felt a bit crud and tired on and off but no real symptoms. My Mrs had 3 or 4 really rough days, bad headaches, feeling sick, super tired and oddly enough really bad tooth ache. I mostly just felt really, really tired and weirdly also had bad tooth ache?! Still feel really tired now despite sleeping way more than I normally do. Chest is a little messed up but really glad it didn't hit me too bad. I have lung issues anyway so was pretty concerned about this. While I was off 12 members of staff also went down with it and about 1/6th of the pupils also called out with it. School now back to no whole school assemblies and supposed to all be wearing masks again.

Less than 5000 people dying per day now, lowest since it started. UK deaths per capita 33rd. Denmark has done 22 tests per person vs uk's 7, less than half the death rate

Covid must be giving similar symptoms to flu in those cases - the one time I know I had flu, I couldn't get out of bed for a week and everything ached, including my teeth. 1
