I've starting using it today alas it's run into trouble here but is 80% there... 2 issues I'm having.

it won't collect a students "work" email if the notes field (for the email address) as any info in it. (or maybe illegal chars, in notes?) about 1/3rd of pupil addresses missing

it won't collect teachers "work" email if it’s not set as the main and or primary address. (more testing needed) Doesn’t pick up valid addresses correctly marked “work” no visible notes entry. about 1/5th teachers missing emails.

Looks like a great tool, if it can work 100%

Admin told me that they can't do anything about ALL classes having a fore slash in them, (luckily salamander has that covered) but classes shift a lot during the term, so frequent updates maybe needed.

I wonder how much SIMS ID is gonna cost?

That was the data cleansing we did in sims. few of us just pulled up a quick report of pupils/staff without primary work emails and quickly changed them (They were almost always in sims, just set wrong) after that we dropped down to only a few staff who are oddballs themselves who didn't come over.

I've re-uploaded the csv a few times to correct assignments as sims has been fixed in prep.

The team at salamander are first class. They just rolled out teams for all our classes today. Worked fine!

I will say that we have had a continuous push of good sims data health for the last decade. Prior to that we’d have terrible trouble automated anything through their party services.

(We have over ten different services consuming sims data and four that write back. Data errors in addresses contact numbers etc quickly become apparent as each system throws warnings and errors!)

You must be one of the lucky ones. We purchased Salamander but we've been waiting over a week for SDS support! Salamander is a good product but during peak times you're on your own

Very much not our experience - one of their team was remoted in at 20:30 setting things up for our O365 school one evening this week!

update: it is our fault! it seems that almost all of our errors are because although we have a "work" email ALOT are not set as primary and main... Doh.

Yep it is a requirement to have them set as primary and main for SDS to pull them through.

drop an email to [email protected] i cant say we have ever waited more than a day to get something looked at

I've been emailing them every day for a week but they are "very busy". Normally they are very good, but it's during these busy times that makes it worrying if support is unavailable

You maybe need to check they're receiving your emails as I emailed earlier this week and had a reply in a couple of hours.

Their response is that they are "very busy"

Well I emailed them on Tuesday lunchtime and had no such response - the service we got was above and beyond.

Going by how busy they currently are, and the number of new subscriptions incoming, I suspect they’ll be expanding their support team to cope. Good to see their reputation and quality product do business.

oh my word, I've spent 2 hours correcting email addresses that couldn't be matched as sometimes the preferred name was used and others the legal name was used... 67 records but SIMS is a slow pig when you need it!

Salamander working great, not sure about the uploading the files went up but the sync tool said it stopped for errors. With the manual files it had errors but got on with it.

My SDS is still syncing, but it's obviously a big input of data. I can already see the teams in SDS and the Teams dashboard, and the members and owners look correct.

Can someone share a screen shot of how SDS sets up the team's?

How does each Team look inside the team?

Just interested that's all because not sure if we rush and set up SDS (we have Salamander, does it set them up differently?)

But don't want to get it all setup wrong that's all.

That's really surprising. Usually get a reply the same day. I would confirm your support request has been recieved.

Same never had an issue with logging a call. I have logged one this week and got same day reply.

Hard to show a screenshot with all the student names but basically it creates and populates load of groups with the timetable name of Sims.

So for example:

11ADr1 - Drama

Teacher as the Owner

19 students as Members

And this is replicated for all classes on your timetable. It works quite well.

How is everyone finding the performance of Teams? We're finding we can't set assignments without sitting there for ages and at the moment it's not working at all. Worked ok first thing this morning but just now is unusable. Infuriating...

Yep same issue here, overloaded I think. Admin console also giving random errors :)

I guess that's what happens when Microsoft suddenly offers it to the world free of charge. Basically I don't think we can use it at all - a big waste of time

Are people persevering with this? I think we're about to have teachers with pitch forks wanting to attack us...

thanks! That's great yeah I just wanted to know the general setup, how does it work with class changes? There's ways kids moving sets here?
