KWestos Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Just wondering what outlook people had from their server room window (providing they have one).
reggiep Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Vertical Blinds! But behind them is a lovely view of the street below. It's great first thing in the morning as I get to see all the irate parents blaring their car horns at each other as they park on the yellow zig zags. Almost makes it worth turning up in the morning!
mullet_man Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 We have the Science block, and a bit further on houses, a bit dull really.
Sirbendy Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 blinds and bars across the view, but it looks down onto the tennis courts.
dezt Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 You have a window in your server rooms....... wow, if only maybe it would be a bit lighter in there
KWestos Posted May 22, 2008 Author Posted May 22, 2008 (edited) I feel rather bad for bringing this topic up. I have a view of fields then the Irish sea (we are an Island off the South Coast of Cumbria) Edited May 22, 2008 by KWestos

Ryan Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Servers look south out over the rooftops of the school (they seem to enjoy it), my office next door looks east over the city and north sea (when it's not foggy!)
Heebeejeebee Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Vertical Blinds! But behind them is a lovely view of the street below. It's great first thing in the morning as I get to see all the irate parents blaring their car horns at each other as they park on the yellow zig zags. Almost makes it worth turning up in the morning! After the blackout blind I can see a grassy quadrant where the greenhouse is. It's about the only open space in the school that's not covered in weeds three feet high. Mind you I can only see this since they've recently cut down the rather bushy and overgrown shrubbery that used to cover the window completely. One year the science team left their staff-room windows open a crack over the summer holidays and 6 weeks later the office looked like a scene from Jumanji HBJB
joe90bass Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Wow, what's the island called. I gotta google earth you! I'm guessing Walney?
e_g_r Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 If i crane my neck to one side i can just about see daylight from a window in the corridor outside our office. Otherwise its just pastle green painted walls. What is good is the view outside of the foothills of the Pennines.
ahuxham Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Our office windows outlook the Y9 play-field, and the main administration buildings. Its a lovely sunny office. Our server room outlooks our hidden courtyard, complete with Table, chairs, umbrella, BBQ, and grapevine. Its a sun-trap.
Stevenw Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 no window in our server room ...... oh wait we dont have a server room. got a good view of 2 IT rooms from our office tho
dave.81 Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 When the curtains are open, not very often, i have a lovely few of our tennis courts then the rolling hills of Devon. Just a shame can never have the curtains open these dam new double glazed windows just transfer so much heat.
richard.thomas Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 No windows in our server room And the windows in our office have boards on them lower down. So all i can see if the sky when I look up (High roof + high windows)
FN-GM Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 As I currently look out of our office window I can see 2 year 10 lads having a punch up.
joe90bass Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 We have blinds which hide us from our library. No opening windows and no external view. Our new school has us in a room with no windows at all, I tried to negotiate a skylight (we're on top floor) but failed. Still at least we have a dedicated airconned server room on the ground floor to look forward to. As for us we're gatecrashing the Business and IT faculty resource base which has windows overlooking the valley (and keeping our office we should be in as a work room)
joe90bass Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 No windows in our server room apart from Microsoft's. That's bad, very bad
ticarr Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 We have a view over the canteen but from the other side of the building we can see all over manchester,
SteveT Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Hi, its Walney island For those of you who don't know, Walney Island is near Barrow. Used to be joined but the marras dug a big trench to separate them. Next step is to tow it out to sea and scuttle it!! :D:D
